Black screen on startup

Please help me.

I've downloaded the torrent version of the game - twice now.

Every time I log in I can only see the menu and character creation interface, but not anything else. Everything else is entirely black and I'm unable to make a character or start the game.

First time I launch the game I can hear the main menu music, afterwards even that is gone. I tried to have my antivirus turned off, I tried moving the folder, I tried both ticking and leaving the read only folder checked.

Nothing. Help, I'm clueless.

The torrent possibly didn't download the files properly. Try the other download links.

I downloaded it twice though. If that's the case, your torrent has a problem.

Anyway, I shall do that. Thanks.

Downloading in parts is tricky for me, although I'll manage eventually. Could you guys reupload the torrent at all at some point?

I'm always uploading the game via torrent.

Besides, the direct downloads always work, providing nothing goes wrong when you download it lol.

Ivan6285 --- did you find any solution to this? I'm having the exact same problem.

Win 8.1, high-end gfx card.

Can see all the menu buttons and all the menus (although the menu window backgrounds are transparent, so if you have multiple menu windows open on top of each other, you see all of them).

By blindly clicking on the screen, I've managed to create a character but once I try to log in, I get the Norsca map loading screen for a number of seconds before the game crashes.

I remember having had the same "blackened" problem in the original game after they updated the lightmaps of the game and the post-op, and once I unchecked the Post Op in the settings it went away.

---------------------------------------

I've downloaded the game with all the different methods (MEGA, direct, torrent) and not getting any errors from the launcher. No errors on unpacking.

As of now, I'm left to nothing but an undying thirst of playing my favourite game ever...

Yeah jon, my issue is exactly the same as you described down to the last word, sadly, no news.

Shame though, good to know that alternative links won't help. I'll try downloading from mega anyway as i've already downloaded three out of five parrts.

Eagerly looking forward to a solution if anyone is aware of one.

Oh BTW, this is happening on Windows 7 x64bit, Nvidia 9800 GT, 4 gigs of ram, AMD Athlon Dual Core 3.1 ghz.

Maybe there are some outdated redistributables that normally come with the game which we don't have right now? Can't think of anything else.

I've got the same system (but it runs with Pentium) and the game works just fine. I can PM you the list of installed redistributables if you want it - maybe we'll find a solution at last.

Thanks, that might be useful, though examining and comparing those might take some time.

I'd like to point out that I downloaded the MEGA version and that there most definitely were some differences from the torrent version.

The main issue is the same as above, in regards to that nothing has unfortunately changed, however, unlike the torrent version, here the logo cinematics play the first time you start the game, and i can see three servers, two "martyr's square" and one "DEVSERVER".

When I do pick either of martyr square's it once again ends up being the same, I am unable to see anything or create a character, though the odd difference is that here I can hear the river flowing and other ambient sounds that weren't present in the torrent version. Hovering over menus and clickable things plays a sound, whereas in the torrent version it also did not. ..If that is of any relevance at all.
