its funny how people keep saying SW dont do damage, try to pew pew with SH , it hits for like 30-40% less, as SW you can actully burst target down during RKD

SH has several advantages over SW:
1) They have access to all of their range skills without any requirements (not counting squig armour) therefore they have an easy access to their strong finisher which on par with pet+squig pressure gives the class good burst potential. Not to say about other tools.
2) SH if played right is harder to kill than SW -- some may argue because there is a WL on order side that is a direct counter to any gobbo but Mara is able to kill SW with the same or even greater success since SW has less survival tools -- this is also one of the reason why range SW will barely have a spot in small scale: there is almost always a marauder that will destroy you after successful pull or m1/tank's Champion Challenge, SH, as I mentioned, can manage to survive such combos due to their detaunts, knock backs, Run Away (both tactic and skill are good kiting tools). That's why SH proved itself semi-viable in a group when range SW is limited to roam-only groups.

Because of such reasons we have had such monsters on SHs like Teefz who could destroy whole lake in solo/duo and never had something similar on SW.

Anyway if you came here from solo perspective than SH is stronger without doubts than SW due to its disarm being better CC tool (solo perspective) and surviving tools.

As we run the Engi Sniper Squad a Glascannon engi can pack in some serious ST punch.
Although if you don't have a Turret ready or the enemy jumps on you its is a 50/50 chance if you can fend of in 1vs1 Situation. I got my share of getting killed days in a row by self regenerating BG, BO or Doks.

SW doesn't has the nice Engi/Magus 183ft Snipe but is far more mobile. Even in Ranged Scout stance. Alas the old Festerbomb builds are no more. And if you have played 3 years an Engi it is quite refreshing not to check every minute that you have a Turret ready, but just mount up and go.

Also The Eternal Host ran some SW/AM squads some weeks ago. With the 1second Eagle Eye Tactic and that switch of Scout Stance to Corporeal Damage you can take down even Tanks in a reasonable Timeframe. Even though this is fun, it is no comparison to a propper six man that will eat your group. But it is fun. :)

Also true what was said above: On an Engi you can decide to switch to a WB build with Magnet, or DPS Tinkerer or DPS Grenadier. The SW has some Aoe Attacks on Scout Stance but is not really a WBs first or even second choice for a DPS Spot.

If you need Help on anything dwarven, check the Dwarf Handbook. Kegsniper Build in the last chapter.

Seems you forgot to add your pet dps to the equation. Also bursting anyone not specced and geared like shlt in RKD duration (from full hp) is not gonna happen.

If you want rewarding fights and high dmg numbers sw is the wrong class. If you like to kite and hope your cc lands then sw might be fun for you, as long as your not hitting high armor classes. In this case youre not killing fast enough to roam around before someone else interrupts the fight. If you go asw you might do better, bjt in any case, why chose such an annoying playstyle when you can simply roll a wl and front load burst those destro suckers into oblivion. Or a wh to roam around and pretty much being able to kill any class 1v1.
You are correct, there are better classes for individual situations. The SW is more a jack of all trades. The WH for example is it not.

Leveling (especially renown) take some time. I think its not the worst idea have a decent class for different environments.

SW is a fun class that’s for sure. Melee excels in small scale organized fights (though needs 70 to take full advantage) and ranged used to be pretty good (not BW level but a good SW could do some great stuff) but ranged SW has been hit pretty hard with nets over the last 18 months or so that have pretty much made it pure support in any competitive environment.

Still lots of fun and in casual can keep up with other DPS classes.

You should just roll a BW.
