Throwing Forts

I have already seen a few forts that have been thrown so the zone would progress to city. Naturally, this is what is going to happen when you lock the best gear behind a progression system like this. People will always choose the path of least resistance. Perhaps, just as successfully defending a zone before a fort awards one invader token, maybe successfully defending a fort before a city should offer a chance at royal crests. Thoughts?

The way City Sieges were implemented asks players to give up zones so they can play the end-game content. Also it rewards xRealming behavior.

It has broken the WAR PvP/oRvR system, it's real messed up and needs a total rework of it before it gets even worse.

throwing zones was an issue before this as well. Even when zone before zone awarded invader medallions though it was better.

We are constantly discussing way to improve on the system and Id like to remind you that its still week 1

A successful city push should give the attackers 2 Royal Medals just for hitting the city tbh. If you don’t want the other wife to gear up faster then stop them; and it helps alleviate all the zergers crying they can’t get into city cause there aren’t enough defenders for another instance.

Exactly. I made this very point elsewhere and ATM am just trying to enjoy the content. What enjoying the content looks like can be seen here:

it was to be expected. it’s logical that people choose to throw the fort in order to get the best set in the game, especially since it seems to be much easier to get it (someone wrote that they already have 4 pieces, and this is a week after the patch).

There have been 5 sieges. Two gold bags are in each stage. Each gold bag has 6 possible items in it, you randomly receive one.

Winning a gold bag is 2 out of 24, getting 4 matching non repeating pieces is pretty unlikely odds. 1 in 6 four times in a row. Someone can do the math and I'm pretty sure you're going to be in single digits percentages if not lower. Not impossible, but definitely not what you should expect as a normal thing.

Of course it's to be expected when the system rewards you for it. It's only logical to do it, like you said. Why would I even try to do anything else when getting to city is the only way of getting the gear? If on the other hand players were somehow rewarded for fighting and not just locking zones, something might just change.

Yes, u are right, people fought and received their awards, perhaps honestly, but on the other hand, why then there are forts if no one wants to protect them?))

Is it really that terrible? The optics of it arent great, but is really harmful? City sieges are the most fun part of the game right now why wouldnt people want to do them more? If you are on the defending side and you need invader gear it kind of sucks I guess. Or if you are really into the role playing aspect of the game you probably dont like it.

It's not like it's free gear for the side that threw the fort, just make sure you make them lose their instance. You cant stop them from getting 3 royal Crest and crests from bags and make sure that's all they get.

And currently it's not really 1 out of 24 to get a gold bag. The way contribution works the same people are getting most of the gold bags, but that has already been acknowledged and should be addressed so it doesnt seem like a huge issue.
