One thing I have noticed with RoR is that it has a very low tolerance for unstable connections. So while the up/down speeds may be perfectly fine, if you lose connection for short periods of time every so often, it may result in a disconnect anyway.

Yep, this has been up on the bugtracker for a while now, with no reaction from the devs so far. I assume they are aware though.
