Yep, pretty much. Sometimes it's useful if you need an upgrade or just got one of that kind and like to make sure it doesn't turn into zero seeds of that kind.

If you add soil, water and fertilizer, your chances of having critical success increase. You can lvl a seed from 1 to 200. Just takes time.

What if... ... there was a vendor like the Subjugator trade guy (maybe even the same NPC) where you can trade in one Genesis piece for one of a currency. It would be cool BUT this game doesn't really do well with small scale arena type fights. Balance is targeted towards larger scale. And we all know that 3 WL groups would dominate all.
