Re: Healing RR gains
Should super defensive solo tanks that can't kill anything, get renown for using Challenge on enemies while someone else does the killing? Cause that's exactly what you guys are asking for healers. Cept that healing someone feels more important than Challenging, but in the end we are talking about two playstyles that are meant to be part of a group.

Yes, imo, both healers and tanks should get out of group renown if they support out of group.
Look at the top 20 renown, it's 15 dps classes and 5 support classes. The renown distribution is off and it doesn't encourage people to play those classes. Escpeially when you're solo.

Re: Healing RR gains
Some classes are inherently better for soloing. A Shadow Warrior for example has an easier time than a defensive KotBS, so obviously you will see way more DPS than tanks in the top RR spots. Yeah, shocking! However this game doesn't care about soloing. I think it is even stated somewhere around here... balance discussions rules I think.roadkillrobin wrote:Yes, imo, both healers and tanks should get out of group renown if they support out of group.

As for healers... some DPS healers are exceptional for soloing.
Finally, who cares if healers are not encouraged to solo-heal in RvR? The only people they would heal anyway are:
a) Other soloers, who most certainly don't want help from a leecher, or
b) Groups/WBs who have their own dedicated healers.

Re: Healing RR gains
But why should one archtype have the privilage to sbe able to solo renown when the others struggle extremly hard with it? Then same logic should aply to dps aswell, were they only get renown if they do it with support.Penril wrote:Some classes are inherently better for soloing. Re: Healing RR gains
It's not an archetype. It's a spec. Different things.
A DPS healer can be incredibly effective at soloing and gaining renown. Even RP is pretty good for soloing. Same with tanks. If you don't want to spec that way for oRvR, that's your decision.
If you spec super tanky-tank or super healing-healer, which are group specs, don't expect to earn much renown when soloing.

Yeah but you also need to aquire both dps and main role gear to be viable for it while dps can get away with just 1 set of gear.Penril wrote:It's not an archetype. It's a spec. Different things.

In the end nomather how you twist it, DPS have a renown advantage with this renown distrubution system.
