Technical support suggestions and feedback

Hiya!

I've noticed some technical support issues/threads that arent really going anywhere. From a troubleshooting/support point-of-view it is often based on to little information to do anything. Also, i understand that the project is "not you average game development", so it might often be troublesome to provide support - staff are often busy at it is with other tasks, so support takes a backseat.

Suggestion: Community technical support forum
Spoiler:
As such i wonder if there could be a more community oriented technical support were it is understood that this is players helping players. either as a subforum or just as a general rule for the technical support forum.

Either way, it should be implied that the support is community based and not official, as this changes expecations and demands, as well as opens up for people that want to help.

A goal of the forum could be to provide information to the dev team that is digested and formatted in a way that would help them in potential troubleshooting, as well as creating useful information for the community (common issues, common hardware that might cause issues etc)
Which leads me to...

Suggestion: Useful information sticky and what it would contain
Spoiler:
Often times, issues stem from either the users system/pc or their network. While not popular (ref the amount of threads that start with "im sure its not my pc..") i am guessing it is actually very common for a game with an older codebase.

Troubleshooting, most of the time, it just gathering the right info/data, correlating it to a common issue and taking it from there. How to get the data is often times different, but a common way could be the dxdiag (which works on all Windows systems with directx).

Examples:

- Operating System

Apart from the above technical information, there might be other information that is relevant, such as ping/pathping/nslookup etc for the relevant servers in the WAR farm (or one in the same datacenter) to identify potential networking problems.
I guess the TL;DR would be:

* Community technical support forum
* Sticky/stickies with useful information for troubleshooting technical issues

Thanks for your time :D
