Fortress system suggestion

Post#1 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:10 pm

The purpose of this post is to deliver an alternative to Attack and Defend Fortresses which will improve the gameplay experience allowing less Zerging, less crashes, a better FPS performance and new ways of teamwork between leaders.

Have we gotten an alternative on how to win a fort? besides making all players stay in the lord smashing buttons for 10 minutes straight? Something similar to the score system from Scenarios? A more dynamic way?

For example, i give you this idea. An idea that will require for warband leaders to cooperate and achieve a sinergy on which their teamwork will gain victories or defeats to the realms.

Forts have a time limit since it opens. Let say 60 minutes.

<First stage>

-Doors go down as it currently is. Players get to group up before outter doors go down. (5 minutes)

<Second Stage>

-Inner doors starts with 75% HP. (this is so defenders have a reason to hold BOs from the beggining)

-Cap BOs to destroy/repair inner door (repairing the doors should be 1/3 the speed on which it gets damaged, the purpose is to extend the doors life and increase chance of winning for defenders)

-BOs should work the same as in a regular ORvR zone, 60 to 90 seconds to be taken while remaining in range of it.

-Make it so that each BOs requires 12-24 players to stay in range of the BO to remain taken. This will deny zergs from happening. Each warband must defend each BO and assist nearest one.

-For doors to be repaired it requires 3 out of 5 BOs taken, and if 5 are taken it means the repairing will be just a little bit faster. Once inner doors are fully repaired at 100%, if defenders do not hold at least 4 BOs, the doors will automatically be damaged. This will prevent zergs from holding outter doors.

<Third stage>

-Bottom floor posterns should be wide open just as inner doors. In fact there should be no posterns doors, it must be a new inner door in place of the current posterns ones. This is so warbands will have to defend each door to maintain bottom floor.

-A door must be added on second floor that will open up once Bottom floor BO is fully taken by attackers.

-Add a BO on bottom floor inside the fortress, make it so that bottom floor BO will open the doors to Second Floor, then, if bottom floor is fully taken, defenders will start respawning at Jail. This is a progressive system of holding floors to unlock next one.

-Respawn place for defenders is the 4th floor. If Bottom floor is fully taken by Attackers, the Defenders will start respawning at Jail. A warband should stay at Second floor killing a less powerful LORD than it currently is, the rest of them should focus on defending bottom floor.

-Bottom floor must be holded by at least 1 warband to allow progress towards upper floor. If Defenders decide to drop down/regroup outside and charge towards Bottom Floor BO and retake it, it will deny all progress from Attackers and restart the Third Stage from bottom floor. So in a few words; bottom floor is key to hold, if you let alone Bottom floor it will restart it all and LORD will heal back up 5% every one minute. To kill LORD, bottom floor must be holded. The longer time Defenders retake bottom floor after LORD takes some damage, the more LORD will be healed.

This will unlock new strategies and tactics to attack and defend a Fortress.

It's just an idea, if something of it is useful to deal with Fortresses issues i am glad i could give a solution, if not, well, i just spent 1 hour of my life. Cya in the lakes!

The system is so complicated that will fail in some of the 100 critical points that it has, starting from the coding of it from scratch, until people trying to learn an overly complex system of positions that in fact penalise players looking to actively fight, and rewards afking in BOs, while also making every possible choke point an Avenue for moar AoE spams.
