You're making the mistake of bunching Chosen together with SM.ashton007 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 7:53 pmOf course chosen gains from it. it just doesnt gain what a bg/bo does. the % of damage for those classes with armor pen is much higher than that of chosen. chosen would gain more from a 4% dmg bonus or maybe 5% crit chance even. The armor pen isnt specefic to chosen. but im speaking for SM all the same here. Magic dmg classes do not need armor pen.Oglaf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:41 amThe point is that BG/BO doesn't lose damage when stacking up utility skills (like snare, various debuffs/buffs) but every time a Chosen does he loses a lot of damage because he doesn't spam Ravage. Meanwhile a BG/BO has an Armor Debuff that increases the damage of all their skills because they are physical.ashton007 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:23 am
Chosen still doesn't gain as much from armor pen. your main source of damage is spirit still. I never cared for the tactic as it was just a niche way to play chosen solo. I'm simply talking about the set bonus for the gear. They changed daemonclaw because chosen gains minimum from ws. well the same applies to end game gear sets that take weeks/months to farm.
Not saying that WS is good, its bad. But it is a bandaid the DPS Chosen can use rather than an Armor Debuff. Not that they should have to, but they kinda do. If you remove WS from various Chosen armor/weapons without changing Chosen as well, you're directly nerfing the overall DPS of the class.
EDIT: Not to mentioning missing out on the phat 2H auto-attack bursts which are also physical damage.
SM has far, faaaaaaaar more non-physical abilities by default.
Chosen hasn't been a "magic damage class" since it (and KoTBS) lost their damage converting-tactic.
Again, removal of WS on Chosen gear would be a huge nerf.
