Congratulations to the developers. They've changed the meta again.
So far it was the case that as a weaker side you could at least try to defend a keep with 20-40% AAO and you had a chance of a successful defense.
Since you now need a few crates to level up the keep again, this will change rapidly in the future.
The change now forces you to split up to hold at least 2 BOs for longer time in the Open. And the enemy blob can leisurely hunt from one BO to the next to farm its kills.
So instead of supporting the weaker side, it is weakened even more. On the contrary, if the attacking side notices that there is significant resistance in the keep, then they simply pull away and chase the defenders when they want to close the Door. Noone need to Push through Oil anymore. Get the defenders in the open and exhaust them.
This means that it is no longer worth defending if the population does not fluctuate at the same time.

I've seen plenty of pvdoor going on for months. Typically if defenders don't think they can win, "don't give them any rr, and its not worth my time."

One of the problems is that unsuccessful defence doesnt give anything meaningfull for defenders so why die and give enemy more

I used to show up and defend keeps 10v100 when I could use siege weapons and get renown. Haven't bothered in years now.

RoR problems summed up nicely. Dev vision for the game is blobbing in rvr and premades mauling pugs in scs. That's clear by now because literally every change moves towards these two things.

I got ya. But the oil kills at least attracted defenders even if you weren't the one to drop it. Now no one shows up. The attackers have 3 healers for every defender and you cannot kill anything, thus getting zero renown/crests. Changes to make attacking the keep with a blob easier and easier has been detrimental to people sticking around as it gets really boring on either side.

Honestly, i am not sure how any keep is taken right now. First oil drop and timed with Mele push on killing ram, should be seige over.
But as others have stated, there is no reward, and there is little chance of getting to a sieged keep.
No wonder the underpopulated side huddle in the keep waiting or a siege.
