Re: RoR under Linux

probably some incompatibility between your system libs and lutris wine builds then.
its hard to tell, might want to reinstall lutris on your system so it might scream about missing dependencies.

edit: could also try disabling lutris runtime in the configuration. so it will use the system one then, or vice versa

I have Mono installed, so I'm not sure why that error is showing up at the start. The loader section error continues to time out until I kill the process, as well. Best I can tell, it might be a problem with my wineprefix? I'm somewhat new to Linux (using Arch), so don't entirely start what's going on here...thanks for the help. :)
completely missed your message before.
Why dotnet45 though? afaik dotnet40 or 472 work the best in wine... i would advise to use dotnet40
also make sure you have 32bit gnutls package installed on your distro. the pointers how to force install dotnet40 when you have mono conflicts is on the first post under the troubleshooting

Yello. Came back after few month hiatus. RoR seems to be running smoother now than it did last summer. Problem I am facing now, which did not occur before, is that the game keeps closing without a warning every so often. Sometimes its after few hours and on other times its every 30 seconds. It only seems to be happening in scenarios. Ive tried the odd fix here and there. Reinstalling the game and keeping it at default settings seems to be most helpful, but does not remove the problem all together. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it?

Somehow i dont think its wine/linux related issue, seen reports about game closing from time to time here. The best you could do is to enable debugging info in Lutris if you use that and then let the logs run while playing, might give some info about those issues..

hmm... that doesnt tell much..
try with 32bit WAR from launcher and if that doesnt help then try switching to different wine version in lutris

maybe you are running out of VRAM on your GPU?
what you can also do is to try the game with opengl instead of DXVK/Vulkan... check the first post here, under troubleshooting how to do that.

Thanks for the input. Tried with different wine, but it would not even open the launcher. Feeling such a noob. Oh well. It very well could be that its a gpu problem. Maybe time for replacement, heh. Anyhow, I will find one way or another eventually :)

Anyone know how to avoid the launcher simply going black on Linux? I had it working but reinstalled Linux today and now it's not connecting with the connect button greyed out and after a second the whole launcher turns black.

check the first post. you most likely need the gnutls packages to be installed for the connect to work.
black launcher usually happens when it runs with DXVK, but lutris should work around it with having launcher to run with opengl.

Hi!

1/ Nice guide, thanks for that.

2/ Tried to install RoR on my Ubuntu 20.04LTS (through Lutris) and managed to do that. I can run the game without errors!

3/ I did try to configure vkBasalt and failed miserably tbh.

Game log:
Spoiler:
vkBasalt info: config file: /home/uzu/.config/vkBasalt/vkBasalt.conf
vkBasalt info: hdr = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Shaders/FakeHDR.fx
vkBasalt info: mxao = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Shaders/MXAO.fx
vkBasalt info: tonemap = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Shaders/Tonemap.fx
vkBasalt info: deband = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Shaders/Deband.fx
vkBasalt info: reshadeTexturePath = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Textures
vkBasalt info: reshadeIncludePath = /home/uzu/Games/warhammer-online-return-of-reckoning/reshade/Shaders
vkBasalt info: casSharpness = 0.7
vkBasalt info: smaaEdgeDetection = luma
vkBasalt info: smaaThreshold = 0.05
vkBasalt info: smaaMaxSearchSteps = 32
vkBasalt info: smaaMaxSearchStepsDiag = 16
vkBasalt info: smaaCornerRounding = 25
vkBasalt info: toggleKey = F1
vkBasalt info: effects = hdr:tonemap:deband:smaa:cas
Pressing F1 ingame doesn't turn it on (for some reason..) I can literally run '$VKBASALT_ENABLE=1 vkcube' in terminal and have it working with this current configuration and F1 does indeed work there. But once I am in game. It simply doesn't do the trick. Still, guide appreciated very much :)
