Mouse look sensitivity

Hello.

I have recently returned to RoR, and Im trying to get my UI and key bindings all set up. But I noticed my mouse look sensitivity is extremely high. I read about it online and supposedly you can get into the main game folder, then users, then open the user xml file and change one of the lines for the mouse sensitivity. The problem is when I open that xml file, its almost empty. Am I opening the wrong file or something? I just want to tone down my mouse look sensitivity. Any help would be great, thanks.

UserSettings.xml file

Code: Select all

mouse_sensitivity="0.03"
using that value with my 3200dpi 1000hz polling rate mouse

you most likely opened DefaultUserSettings.xml which is nearly empty indeed

Hey ya xpander thanks for the fast reply, and sorry for my super late reply.

Yes it seems I accidentally opened the usersettings.xml file that under the file type, its listed as legacy? There was another xml file but it had a microsoft edge icon, so I guess it was a microsoft edge type of file. I dont normally use microsoft edge so I opened it with normal wordpad, since it wouldnt let me change anything otherwise. I tried changing that mouse setting number, but It doesnt seem to really be changing anything, maybe a little bit. I will keep adjusting the numbers. Thanks for your help my friend.

UserSettings.xml.legacy1 is some older config file. that doesnt change anything for actual game. the regular UserSettings.xml is where you want to tweak it. use notepad or similar to open and tweak it. You cant do that in browsers indeed if for some reason browser opens it for you as default.

Hello again xpander.

Im adjusting the non-legacy user xml now, but my mouse sensitivity isnt changing. Im not sure what Im doing wrong. Its amazing to me that a simple mouse sensitivity slider was not implemented in this game, huge over site from the devs. Even one of the oldest MMORPGs Everquest 1 one you can adjust your mouse.

are you sure its the right RoR installation you are changing the values from?
are you restarting the game after changes?
do you have some strange mouse software that maybe overrides it globally somehow?

it should work just fine.. yeah its an oversight from original devs to not include the slider in the game menu, but tweaking the settings works just fine.

Hey ya xpander sorry for this late reply.

I just logged in and it seems like my mouse sensitivity is not as extreme so I think my last adjustments actually worked!
Thanks again for all of your help my friend.
