From what I understand, and going back to the discussion about roadmap for balance earlier in this thread. The devs just kind of make class changes not really based on anything on a meta/macro level of changing the game, but more smaller personal experiences and "that would be cool" kind of thing.

But at least from my point of view as a player, whose been here since t2 was the cap and ostland was the only zone even finished there. The balance changes with the exception of blackguard, and melee SW/SH have really not changed the meta at all in organized group play.

Ranged DPS cropped up in 3-2-1 groups for a while in 6v6 during t3 days, but once mdps got into higher gear sets that basically killed rdps forever in 6 mans, which is well documented in the 6v6 tourneys you can go back and watch. IB has forever been a total shitty meme since t2, and now a double slap in the face when looking at it in city. Yet classes like WL, which are already meta in literally every arena of play in this game from solo to city get what seems like constant attention.

Changing meta games keeps things fresh, feels like the same classes have been in virtually the same place for years now and its gotten stale. I dont see how any of the balance changes in this patch or any of the ones i've read before really try to achieve any kind of shifts in what groups want to run, in 6 mans, 24 mans, city etc...

Patch notes also seem to focus a lot on class balance, and fixing random quests when RvR is probably in the worst state it has ever been. Even if classes were perfectly balanced, fresh and fun to play... scenarios have REALLY died down, 6v6 is dead, city has no matchmaking and is 90% of the time absolute one sided beatdowns. Forts still are the worst content ever due to defender bias and reward structure being horrible yet you need to do that grind on every character because of ToK unlocks. People just letting keeps get attacked then running in with the 200 people where where afk playing Chinese mobile games to come collect their free keep D bags.

I just dont think the game is fun right now, and I took quite a long break and burned out in 3 days of playing again. I really think lack of a roadmap to give the players some sense of hope in the future or acknowledgement by the staff of core problems and their intentions to fix them, or their vision of what they want for the game makes it hard to get hyped for whats down the line or have hope to hold out and wait for those changes.

Imagine playing choosen, accepting to be a buffbot/guardbot during months and months, farming all the defensive stuff ... knowing that "one day I could play dps part and enjoy my class instead of serving other"

Well, no boi,no no no no no
stay a guardbot and buffbot and dontexpect to play other role

I realy advise devs to not litteraly nerfbuttom class but more give a more "I take, I give" things in order to keep balance with kind of roadmap or vision explaned.
Litterary deleting a skill or a tactic is quite hard to understand for a player who has played his class months & months of farming.

Otherwise, thanks the stuff for keeping WAR, we all enjoy the game ofc :)

rSH didn't get a nerf at all this patch lol. If you bothered reading the patch, you'd see they have a huge buff in pet damage.

Reading comprehension seems to be difficult for a lot of folks, so I will give you a pass on this one.
Does this mean that the white lion also got a "huge buff" in pet damage, asking for a friend heh

Well, imagine playing a physical tank that collected two sets and knocks out about 100 damage from your chosen one in an offensive set, and in return receives 600 non-critical hits. Imagine having a lion (to dispel the boredom) which, after an armor debuff and a blow with armor ignore in the back, sees 60 damage in the combat log.
Imagine the future of a city with a composition of 12 choses (+ smash by anyone) in a couple of months when they all suddenly realize that you can stick an armor talisman in every hole and, having an overcap of resists, gain 1m + damage and just get fun from how cool smart ones are. This is some kind of vanity fair.

With the way the patch note is worded, this means that any pet class (Engineer, Magus, WL, SH) have received their critical chance back on pets, and in the case of engineer / magus, now have more defensive options for their pets, and in the case of engineer, have stats that were straight up missing before on their pets that are present as they should be.

So I mean, take that how you will - but yes, in terms of pet damage, independent of faction, they're all back where they were prior to a month or two ago.

I know you want to twist this as "hey lol dev is boosting their own class and nerfing others", but I stand by the fact that since I came back after Torque quit and Guardian was reverted, there has been one WL net buff - which wasn't even done by me.

The pet change in question was implemented with Torque's Guardian WL changes but never reverted, and applied to all melee-based pets.

The change was done by Peterthepan / Dansaren who insisted that WL needs to have better AOE, and Wargrimnir/Torquemadra compromised with them on a change that would grant them AOE effectiveness without fundamentally altering the class's design - the 50% armor pen on Whirling Axe / Slashing Blade.

Since then, I took over WL's design and ultimately remained adamant on refusing to increase WL's damage - it was ridiculously powerful, and I received pressure to nerf Coordinated Strike, which I did - by 25%, as the class was too bursty when you consider you can Pounce -> Autoattack -> Knockdown -> CS hitting in the same global cooldown. So we used DoTs power increases instead, for Blindside (a largely useless DoT before the change) and Shattering Blow (even worse of a DoT as it doesn't do primary attack damage) to fill in the gap from 25% coordinated strike being gone.

Also since Guardian from 2018 was reverted, we did the following:
-Mirrored the 5s IB morale root to both Mara/WL (a nerf)
-Cleave Limb from 10s duration -> 5s duration and 5s cooldown to 10s cooldown to match all other mDPS except melee squig herder, who had a clone of Cleave Limb until rather recently. (another nerf)
-We nerfed Pounce to not have a landing damage amount (a nerf to WL burst)
-We nerfed Throat Bite to no longer deal damage (a nerf to WL's burst)
-Flanking no longer affects proc damage
-Lion pets deal less damage at range when they are too far away from their owner's location.
-Lion pets can no longer attack those on walls unless you are on defense attacking those below.

These are all factual changes that can be attributed to changes since 2018 by our developers, past and present.

Not even going to mention the countless Marauder buffs we did over the last year. Some of which we went overboard and tuned back, as we would with any other class change that is out of line.

These changes allowed us to refine which method has the best impact for our players both short term and long term, and allowed us to prioritize development outside of balance while keeping a roadmap in mind of what to tackle next.

Every time I see patch notes threads like these, it pains me because you and I are playing the same game. I know *exactly* what it is like to have your favorite class nerfed. But also know that everything in life, including these changes, are temporary and subject to changes, removal, or improvements.

I mean you don't have Autoattack with WL or mSH. The only situation when you get one - target is standing completely still. The fact that you can't dismount people now - is sad as hell. Why remove it completely? Just make it do SOME damage, so we can still have some utility with dismounting people. We already taking a risk with that leaps and going frontline - now it's more saddening experience.
