Re: Patch Notes 18/05/2022
It's not necessarily bad as a change, but keep in mind previous "1s" gcd was somehow in line with many channeled abilities, with or without casting time reducers.
There are two things that need to be scaled accordingly if you want a longer and stricter gcd :
1. You need some input buffer, to take into account human accuracy (we are not robots that can press keys with zero milliseconds difference between two inputs), and to not make thinks clunky as hell,
2. You need to review every skill, tactic and morale that modify casting time, because losing half a second more after using Focused mind or pretty much any other ability will further reduce the "useful timeframe", as well as reducing casts per second (see previous posts).
I think getting a middle ground to that strict 1.5s should be better, if you dont want to allow the 1-1.15s interval ; getting a gcd to 1.3 to 1.5 (with a 200ms input buffer) should be enough.
Otherwise, you need some sort of "cast queuing", wich will trigger skills only after the strict 1.5s, but allowing inputs from 1.3s : at least using skills should feel as responsive as before.

yeah, was actually 1.1s before with no buffer. Now after hotfix it has the buffer/pending ability. Just like live servers had. So if you press just before the GCD ends the server will fire the ability when the GCD actually ends.Grock wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 4:54 pmIts no different from how it was before, if you wanted the shortest possible GCD of 1.15 seconds you had to time it manually - it wasn't an input buffer, it was just shorter real GCD which you had to time without any visual indication (although there were addons to display the "real" gcd duration)Garamore wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 4:12 pm This will just cause people to macro using mouse/keyboard stuff. Big DPS increases from perfectly timing the presses and huge penalty for pressing the key too early as you miss the skill. Most raids and a lot of PVP on ESO were made up of people with macros to perfectly time the GCD. Harder in War as pvp is more conditional but with 0 tolerance and no skill q it will be very attractive for people to macro 3-4 skills in a chain.
They might add input buffer later though to make 1.5s gcd feel more responsive and dynamic
The reason for having a 1.5s GCD is that literally all tooltips and damage values on abilities are made for that. And the visual indicator is also 1.5s.
With a 1.1s GCD like before a 70 DPS weapon gives you 95 DPS, so just no logic then.

Is pretty much a nerf to range..so a nerf to most Order.. that I am ok with
Order: 70 AM / 76 RP/ 72 Knight/ 58 WH
Destro: 82 Sham / 79 Zealot/ 70 DoK /70 Magus /68 Mara
Many alts on both sides now ruined by new currency change

Re: Patch Notes 18/05/2022
it's nerf to everyone
someone just got hit harder
I am still in awe about how all the balancing and reworks go out of the window with this update to GCD and mostly none give a single flying Squig about it and there like tons of other reasoning in this thread
Anyway gonna take a break for a week or so from the game, it was enough

1s plink tactic?
The age old ending a cast with a insta cast for optimizing damage?
Who said the tooltips and damage values are made for that?
First thing i hear of that in 10+ years
Re: Patch Notes 18/05/2022
GCD change has to be in top 3 stupidest changes/attemps in ror history. Among with 25% 2h guard and Aza's "WL rework".
Btw in notes it says AP changes got rolled back but in the process something broke because theres less ap than before patch, think ap regen is broken somehow currently.

Re: Patch Notes 18/05/2022
We played this game for many years not to just log in and stare at the tooltips. Nobody cared about animations not being perfect. We played because even with all the garbage changes we had to endure we still liked the overall dynamics of pvp in this game. But, without asking us, this game was transformed into a turn based RPG with a cringy slugfest instead of the pvp that we used to enjoy. There is even less logic in playing a turn based RPG without proper voiceovers for dialogues, engaging storyline and captivating cinematics than tooltips not matching animations in a 2008 MMO.dalen wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 9:29 pmyeah, was actually 1.1s before with no buffer. Re: Patch Notes 18/05/2022
The client says the GCD is 1.5 seconds, and the character sheet shows bonues in terms of "DPS". For most single target direct damage abilities, this would then be multiplied by either the base cast time or the GCD (whichever was higher) to give the resulting damage bonus. DoTs and AOEs get lower scaling. The standard scaling for insta-cast direct damage single target abilities is 1.5 to give it 1.5 seconds (GCD) worth of the "DPS bonus".Automation wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 10:24 pmWho said the tooltips and damage values are made for that?

1s Plink tactic lets you get off that ability much easier. Doesn't mean it's intended to be spammed every second.
