Okay that changes things a bit. I had always assumed it was usable on the move for some reason.

I have spent nearly 14 years believing the Engi and Magus were medium armour classes. My life is a lie :D

have you ever heard pbaoe ?

BW pbaoe rotations are
Spreading Flames - Detonate - Annihilate - with proc of Wildfire tactic, Funnel Power and Flames of Rhuin. and m2 morale.
Dot + channel + proc timestamped.

Magus can mirror it, not sorc.
Glean Magic - Pandemonium - Infernal Blast - Agonizing Torrent - Warpfire - with blue horror aoe.
Dot + channel + pet timestamped.

BW need 100 mechanic, magus need pet stacks.
it's little bit harder for magus to get full effects, cuz of pet.
but magus have Chaotic Rift and Aegis of Orange Fire.

magus can interrupt BW channel too.
it's fun rifting BW to burn it with chaos magic.
u know, blue fire is hotter than red.

ps. it's not easy as bw.
So to answer your post: bright Wizard it's not a Magus (surprise). For BW getting more damage ticks is good as it's more reliant of various damage proc effects, so you have much more of an incentive to try and incorporate Warpfire into the rotation. Second thing: Magus rotation you just proposed assumes you spend literally half of the time stationary (compared to just the annihilate on BW, and it's spread across 3 different skills). If you can't face tank slayer ball as a marauder then you shouldn't do it as a Magus, too. Third thing, BW has no basic cleave skill, like lash. Perhaps if it wasn't as strong as it is you'd use Warpfire more, but as i mentioned lash performs almost as well as Warpfire in terms of raw damage while having much better area of effect and being less vulnerable to interrupts, cc and people running away. And finally, Magus is infamously disliked on organized warbands, so you don't always have a guard and a healer to party with. So, answering anarchypark: yes, I heard about pbaoe.

Also @omega Magus is cloth class, though you have inherent armour buff which stacks with armor pot. You are still lower than medium armor, but not as vulnerable as sorc or something. Can be stripped tho.

burst is timestamped dmg.
dmg build up are resembled but maneuvering is quite different.

at first encounter, put pet and spread Glean Magic, Pandemonium and Infernal Blast here and there,
search enemy healer backline blob, flanking back and forth.
when u find moment, summon pet to your position.
1 or 2 cast for stacks then Rift. or just Rift.
Infernal Blast on blob landing then Warpfire. add nugling b4 if possible.

rotate without Rift during immune timer then repeat.
unless BO and choppa spread immunes.
good combo with mara aoe KD.

hard but could be refreshing after years of melee blob meta play.
i think i stopped this after 24 aoe, with quitting pug leading.
so it's outdated. still, it's my answer for Warpfire use.
SM8, SW8, AM8, WL7, KoBS5, BW5, WP8, WH7, IB7, Eng5, RP5, SL6
BG8, Sorc8, DoK8, WE7, Chs8, Mg8, Ze7, Mara8, BO6, SH7, Shm5, Chop4

Ofc, point is you get better results using demonic lash instead.
Edit: if you want to get different playstyle than melee ball then Magus can go full mid tree dot build with mist, few pandemoniums, gleam magic and firestorm as timestamped damage. Magus demonology build is pretty similar to melee DPS, as you operate in similar range.
