till pre rr 70 as 2h you have to go 15 pt channeling, then for rvr you can spec parry tactic, still for scenarios or small scale in general the channeling still better hands down for rvr 2h def build its better go parry tactic.

how would this pre rr70 build looks like?
Malice until Crimson Death and Loathing till Anger Drives Me and the last 3 Points?

and what would be the "best" to use until? Full Malice and what as a second tree?

for def purpose 15pt skill (rebounding hatred) instead go mid mastery till parry tactic , rest is up to what you wanna be ; if more off take off stuff, if def take def stuff.

I'm just assuming here you dont use guard with that specc? the amount of guard damage you take without parry tactic + renown would be kinda brutal. More or less just play it as a dps?

I'm just assuming here you dont use guard with that specc? the amount of guard damage you take without parry tactic + renown would be kinda brutal. More or less just play it as a dps?

you can have enough parry and in case the channeling give 50% parry, like SM do you can do too...

With the channeling yes, but you cant use abilities while doing that. so if you actually want to assist your guarded one wich more then likely are taking dmg since it's likely a mdps (due to the close proximity of DP buffs.) your just gonna run next to him doing the channeling so you can survive your own damage and the guard damage? I do agree you dont need any(well, not alot) parry when noone or maybe just one of you take damage.

not while is going, if you are getting focussed you channeling; if you are just guarding, your 40/50% parry is enough

the problem of why i said for rvr is still better take parry tactic is exatly that in rvr as tank and destined to be frontline you cant decide when you will take dmg or not , nor be carefull to when you are focussed or not...you always are focussed in aoe, thats why the channeling logic dont work on bg for rvr, you need passive avoidance (which even 2h sm can have on tactics +skill even while channeling but bg have to coice pick) . Btw giving you some number at rr 70 for rvr , my bg go like 70% parry, 30% dodge and 40 % disrupt (god bless willp buff and 45% toughness tactic).

Been leveling a BG recently. Went dps to t4 and it was fun and pretty good. Started going S/B at T4 so I would die as much until I get higher level and better gear.

I am wondering if that the best strategy. Or should I just take my lumps and suffer as dps until I get more capable. The real question is, what would be more useful for a group. A bad geared dps BG or a bad geared defensive BG.

This is from a scenario perspective. RvR I dont really care since numbers are what really matter in this iteration of the game.

Bad gear or not, your job to guard and assist mDPS. You can go full malice, you can go defensive 2h or SnB. That doesn't change what you are supposed to do.

HOWEVER, the amount of guard damage you can take as a full malice "DPS" bg will be always be less than a defensive specced one. That doesn't mean it's a bad choice, you just need to be smart about it.
