Indeed it was like that. Now, the mechanic is broken since lifetap RIP. But still, instant is instant and shouldn't be interrupted.

It is being interrupted because of moving instead of standing still for 1 gcd. This time was to go away, where you have to stand still doing nothing despite having finished your "instant" cast.
Dying is no option.
