Assult sw

Hi i have played around assult sw for some time now and it feels there kit is verry clunky the blink they have is rly wierd and puts you 6feat away from your target so you need to walk into mele. they have no slow unless you go skirmish and use takedown there its rly wierd that skirmis has an execute and not assult stance. only way to speped you upp in abilitys is sswift strike and then its only during the chaneling time and you need to be in mele for that to work. assult sw ffels they have potential but there kit and abilitys is wierd. if you compare assult sw to sh mele there kit is so much better and flushed out. dunno what you all feel but for me its feels like assult is not worth it thx to its clunky and im sad that sh mele build is 100 times better when assult looks promising and shuld be a viabel build and not only play skirmish.

Hi,

Your observations are correct. The state of assault SW is clunky since 2 patches ago in for which the balance team has reduced the range of Shadow Step to 45feet (it used to be 65feet) and they have removed the access to broadhead arrow in assault stance. Shadow Step used to be all up in Assault Tree (where the morale is), so this move was the good one to be done balance-wise. All the rest needs rethinking.

SW has a kind of "execute" with brutal assault, but it needs "Sinister Assault" tactic to be efficient.

SW melee is nowhere to compare with mSH:
- mSH is AoE spec melee only, with a pet with useful CCs for group WB fights, works more like a brawler.
- SW is a single target hybrid melee/range, single CC, and is more burst damage oriented.

In addition, the spec is more gear dependant than Sout and Skirmish.

In terms of survival kit, SW has fewer options than its ugly Destro midget twin.

From a realm perspective fight, you get a better return on investment when you guard a slayer/WL/Bomb BW/WH/Healer than an aSW, except in Ranked SC. This is the opposite for mSH.

The class has a lot of potentials, but issues of skill synergies, the lack of a clear role of the class compared to other DPS, the CC gap between the SW and SH.

Side note: I invite you to make an effort in terms of punctuation and spelling. It will help us to read you and it will help you to improve as well.

Cheers.

I gave up on assault SW after the removal of BHA from assault and the totally unecessary nerf to shadowstep range and defences. The difference between mSW and mSH is a gaping maw and it'd need numerous buffs to even come close, and even then mSW won't see endgame play because slayer is just that good.

Standardising leaps across squigs, lions, shadow warriors etc is all good, but they were in real terms a nerf and should have only been implemented with sufficient buffs in mobility.

Nerf to shadowstep was SUPER NECESSARY tell you the truth. 25% rly? plss  IMO 15% still very good. Just que up for any sce or ranke and see that the
aSW still doing high dmg while being very tank..the class just wont die no matter what. Players might have a easier time killing 2h SM/IBs than aSW.

mSW doesn't do high damage though. It bursts it's AP pool empty then does the lowest sustained dps of ANY melee dps on order without fail.

This point about ranked scenarios comes up all the time. If you balance your game over a mode less than 50 people regularly play you're not thinking straight. Not to mention that outside of the shadowstep defences the class is just a high armor high parry stat stick. It has to spend all renown points in dodge/disrupt/parry defences else weaponskill stacking blows it out of the water.

Lets remember its a Hybrid class, dont expect to overperform WLs. Slayers.

No worries there, it doesn't even come close.

The change to Shadowstep I can deal with, but losing BHA in assault stance makes zero sense from a balance standpoint as well as adding the stationary requirement for Eye Shot (for ranged SW). If any of these changes were voiced to the community on the reasoning behind them, I could maybe understand...but probably not.
