State of the Realms (A Community Discussion with the Devs)
Re: State of the Realms (A Community Discussion with the Dev
That's all good and fine, but throws back to best defense is to not show up. Chicken and the Egg I assume.

No, it's only pissing off the attacker. But not showing up won't help saving that castle you're loosing. And once that pairing is locked, your city will be under siege in later updates.

That's because this game isn't yet a RvR game, it's a PvP game. Rewarding or punishing members of the realm more widely for their performance of lack of performance in RvR requires realm locking measures.Akalukz wrote:That's all good and fine, but throws back to best defense is to not show up. Renown and personal rewards for a battle are PvP. Progress in a meaningful campaign and punishment as a realm for refusing to fight are RvR.

remove the rr bonus to the side wich fails to show up for a siege , and remove rr bonus for the side who cap all the bos and dont attack a keep?.
doable?
aswell possible to increase the rr bonus gain in the zone for the realm controll more bos? and decrease the rr of realm who just show up for def inside a keep?.

Kept crashing in IC yesterday. Noticed an NPC (one of the magus skinned merchants) sitting on top of a guard between the guild vault and the apex.Azarael wrote:Probably some corrupt NPCAlso, since the patch where you turned the Arena enemies in IC into hero's IC is regularly causing everyone to crash. This seems pretty extreme. why is the assumption from the Devs that the only reason people are playing PvDoor is because the player base are jack-holes? I'm an N/A Player. My play times are 7-10pm est on any given weekday evening. during that time more often than not T2 is a one sided game. no opposition. just PvD. This is completely out of my control as a player. Yet, the game is going to penalize me for the state of the community for my chosen play times. that is ludicrous. I can confirm on multiple occasions contributing for an entire Keep siege (PvD) from the door being 100% to the Lord dying and getting no Chest. That is a bug.
If the goal is for there to be a community that actually RvRs against each other at the highest level of play (T4), then limiting the path for players to achieve that goal only causes to shrink your player base over time.
the people in T4, they will remain, new players trying to get there will either resort to non RvR means (PLs, XRealming, etc.) or they will flat out stop playing the game.

To the people complaining that they're not getting any rewards for taking a keep: You didn't contribute. You cannot just zone in during the last 30 seconds of the keep take and expect to be rewarded for it any more, thank god.
I will make this very explicit in the next patch by displaying a message to players who have no contribution recorded.
It may not come as much of a surprise to people, but I don't think PvDoor and PvEing keeps in general to be worthy of great reward. The system will continue to be shaped to the detriment of players who PvE in RvR and who duck fights to cap empty zones, and to the benefit of those who put in actual effort, which involves PvP. Stay tuned for the next small patch!

Re: State of the Realms (A Community Discussion with the Dev
Where do you get the idea that I assume everyone PvDooring is an asshole? My current stance is motivated by people who I have personally witnessed leaving zones in which there is fighting and going somewhere else for an easy cap and nice rewards. It is those people who are going to find themselves in a world of hurt in the next patch.
RvR is designed around having high population. NA population problems aren't my fault, and if you expect there to be a design which can sustain 20 people across huge maps while generating fun gameplay for them, you're asking too much. Scenarios were designed to handle lower playercounts, and while I'm terribly sorry that some people scoff at the idea and would rather PvDoor, because of whatever assumptions they may have about the place of scenarios in the game, I cannot do anything about that, unless you believe that I can pull 200 players out of my rear end so that NA players can have full-on RvR.

Re: State of the Realms (A Community Discussion with the Dev
Then why would any player who plays during NA even come to the server if the devs themselves can't make a system that encourages them to play? There's no incentive to doing rvr atm as there is no guarantee that attacking a keep will reap rewards. Why would people then spend 3 minutes + at each BO that gives no xp/renown and then spend 15mins + at a keep that gives little to no reward. In other games, if you spend time actively doing something, you at least progress somewhat piece by piece.Azarael wrote:Where do you get the idea that I assume everyone PvDooring is an asshole? I'm not advocating that pvdoor should be granting great rewards but they have to give some sort of reward to encourage players to actually attack the keep in the first place.

Re: State of the Realms (A Community Discussion with the Dev
Would there be a way to make the rewards based on a ratio of attackers to defenders? To prevent x-realming screwing this up could make it that it either only counts people in the area for a certain amount of time OR using a rolling average (over time) for the ratio.
