Ah... remember, remember, the 5th of November !

3-4 years ago... a lot of people here seem to have forgotten... we were 22 people during 'prime time'. Running around Norsca. Melee combat was not even working. It had 0 feet range or 1000 feet range. The only gear available was random weird drops from random mobs that we had discovered in PvE places no one ever went during live, cause there was nothing else to do. And the terrain would kill you every 5 minutes.

This was RoR. A couple of devs and 20 people enjoying a dead game.

But now...This server has lasted longer than 90% of the live servers, closing on 5 years. It has more players even now, than Badlands had in the last 2 years of live.

So take a FREAKING step back... How are a bunch of random dudes/dudettes (named Fred... which is awesome btw) that started out a private project with 10-20 players supposed to nail the management of a development team + thousands of players from all over the goddamn world ?

Mythic, EA, Trion... they are/were multi million dollars company in the MMO market, ran by professionals, a board and pro game-devs and they can't get it right half the time. They hire **** dev we don't like. **** designers that ruin the fun. Community managers that seem to come out of cracker-jack boxes, with a 55 IQ score that treat us like garbage (does ANYONE remembers live ? How we were treated there ? Carrie rings a bell to anyone ?) How in hell was RoR supposed to do better with pretty much 0 experience doing that, with only volunteer work ? What kind of insane expectations is that ?

The only unacceptable thing that as happened so far, that a lack of experience cannot explain, imo, for which we have a right for higher expectations, is the Torque letter. That was... I have no words. Although, stupid comes to mind.

Outside of that, just take a chill pill for god sakes. A bunch of amateurs recreated a AAA MMO on a server that lasted longer than the originals.

Some GM was spawning unique mounts for his group and Torque was pissed about it. Sounds like the abuses you lot complain about to me.

He spawned mounts on the test realm so that they could get from point A to point B faster in order to test the things they were there to test.

There is more context to it, but if you couldn't glean at least that much from the conversation I suggest you re-read it to gain further insight.
