usually people who do this literally gear around it, look up fleshrender rings they give HP regen and armor pen reduction and com in str, willpower, and toughness flavors.

Usually the tanks that deal non physical dmg do really well in this regard (Swordmaster, Chosen) But Blackguard and BO can do really well as well for the most part.

You dont see too many KOTBS or Ironbreakers out there soloing.

the game isn't balanced around 1v1 so i dunno
Actually Knights and IB are very good soloists as tanks and I see a bunch of them. Much better than SM.

But, should note, that solo Order tanks aren't generally trying to be DPS when they solo. They spec to survive first because no matter the tank you cannot get the DPS levels of an equally geared DPS and you can only get close by giving up everything that makes you a tank i.e. you'll die easier than a dps.

Also trolling the enemy by not dying and dragging them into a bunch of Order to die is kind of fun too.

This is true, they aren't useless, just magic dmg tanks (Chosen, SM) usually have the edge when it comes to itemization because they don't need to invest any points into weaponskill for armor pen (similiar idea kind of goes for BG seeing as they have 2h tactics build for 2h which makes itemization easier). They can just stack str for their dmg stat. The WS is useful but straight up parry from Renown points is better seeing as that stat cannot be debuffed like WS can.

"Magic Damage Tanks" are overrated. Outside of tank-on-tank combat they are at a disadvantage as the classes you SHOULD be hitting probably have higher resists than they do armor.

Furthermore the "Physical Damage Tanks" come with their own Armor Debuff, allowing them to make a squishier target even squishier.

BO can do so much more damage than a Chosen ever could as a result on Destro side, for example.

This is just flat out wrong. But okay.

You don't think people have magic debuffs? I mean chosen literally has an aura that debuffs magic resists.

Keep playing though, there is a lot to learn about the game.

Yeah, like the fact that Chosen will never come close to BO damage numbers.

You'll get there some day, buddy. ;)
