it doesnt matter if which value comes first, if you have 30% block and 50% parry you will take in both cases 35% frontal meele dmg.

I agree it wouldnt matter which check came first. What I think is being talked about is a single check vs two multiplicative checks. If they were additive they would have the same weight. 50% parry is 50% avoidance. 50% parry 30% block is 65% avoidance.

I though everyone was still talking about guard damage alone. In that check multiplicative avoidance checks have less weight.

How can you STILL not get it? Add a shield and you get your parry AND block, you use both as a SnB tank. You get double defence rolls as a SnB. First for parry AND then for Block. So get much much more defence with SnB then 2H. AND with a shield you can also block ranged and spells directed at you or random AoE dmg, a 2H user cannot defend with parry against that. Im tired of your ignorance, you dont read the answers you get.

That you can get higher parry then block does NOT mean that you have better defence with a 2H weapon. You can get the same parry PLUS block on top of that with a shield. You really need to learn the basics of this game because this is seriously getting old now.

I'm sure there's good will in this position, but we're talking about GUARDDAMAGES only.

Great explanation Smellybelly, Block is probably the best damage negating tool as it is like parry, disrupt and dodge all combined. It works against melee and range, magic and physical damage type .

I get what Hogun is talking about.
50% parry is 50% avoidance. 50% parry 30% block is 65% avoidance. So Block gives 15% added avoidance because its not additive.
Maybe because guard damage has been changed we really should be thinking about making it additive. Block is only lower because it blocks more types. That isnt applicable to guard.
