[Magus] What/where/how

Hello folks,

I just reached rank 40 and would really like to hear from some fellow Magus players how they actually play this class. I am having a hard time putting a finger on my role in RvR/SCs.

I am currently running masteries in path of changing to the point I can get Dissolving Mist and the rest of the points I dumped into Demonology. Running Warped Flesh, Lasting Chaos, Deamonic Reach and Wild Changing as my talents. As yet, even when I pop all my damage over time abilities on a character they dont seem to get all that bothered, and often times they just outright resist a few of them and they dont apply in the first place.

How are you supposed to play this class on the battlefield? Dropping Tzeentches Firestorm on gate holds is fun as hell, especially with the pet buffs on, but in other departments I feel like a second grade participant with my DoTs.

Also I am currently wearing full Annihilator set from RvR, planning to transition to Conqueror in time. Should I stick to this progression or should I be striving for something else for my RvR needs? I am assuming the natural progression from Conqueror is to the Vanquisher set?

Lastly, I cant seem to find any weapon that is available from RvR play, thought I see some SC weapons. I am some 100 Officers Emblems away from getting that 250 Officers Emblem staff from the trader, should I be striving for those weapons?

Or am I supposed to transfer them to Conqueror Emblems and grind for that staff that costs 1500 Conqueror Emblems? Which is going to be quite the grind.... since I am only at like 400 atm.

Boring dot damage aoe spec

While doing lots of dot damage looks impressive its not really all that effective in that what actually kills is burst damage, cause dots can be removed and out healed, i prefer single target build on magus and rift spec for warbands.

Interesting, will check them out. Though I am honestly a big fan of DoT builds in any game I play, so I am kind of fond of the Path of Changing build. The third one is kind of similar to what I am rolling, though I am using the tactic to increase the critical hit rate and the other that increases the range of PoC abilities (so I can DoT from safe distance).

Btw, does the Wild Changing 15% critical hit rate apply to every tick of a DoT or just the skills that deal their damage in one hit? If it is not effecting the DoTs perhaps I should change it.

Also any thoughts on the RvR/SC gear I mentioned?

Oh I forgot, what Morales do you guys use?

Perhaps it is because I am new and don't really understand their uses, but most all of them sound and feel rather underwhelming, I mostly end up popping the Morale 1 tentacle snare rather than build up for any later Morale.

Grasping Darkness for when snaring someone running away.
Focused Mind - for running away yourself or pulling out a quick cheeky Bolt of Change
Scintillating Energy - when you see your friend on enemy side and want that DB or waste 7 seconds of their life.

That tactic only effects dots that come from path of changing tree as the tooltip states, every tick of those dots will have 15% more chance to crit.

Check build again, you will see i put both the endless pandamonium and the wild changing tactic, means more aoe that can crit more.
