Played years ago, characters are all gone, where are they

As the title reads, I played like 4 years ago or something but I came back yesterday and have zero characters, what gives

It is true for that time frame. Does not apply to the time frame now because there was only one wipe.

Frequently players come back and log into the wrong account.
