Don't you know? if you aren't a low dps Rift bot, you have no place in WB's, sieges, and cities. Eff your pet......

I use this build in my engi. I'm not gonna top dmg charts, but is damn funny. Probably worst dps that i own, but most enjoyable one. I sometimes move to this other that, while dealing a lot more dmg, somehow is not that fun to play. Maybe is about the adrenaline of going with your rDPS to the frontline and trying to survive ;)

You need the pet not for the pet but for the Damage buff.
And for that it needs to be in a 25 feet range around you. Most AoE will then also hit you and your pet.
The only exception is the bombardier turret, where you can raise your damage buff and then move to 60 feet range.
That can be done in funnels or keep defences.
In every other situation you can't set it up, wait till you have the buff and then move to the attacking destro warband that has killed your warband. Stationary pets die instantly in anything that involves wb vs wb. If you have instant Pet summoning you can summon it every 5 seconds.

that or lost rebuild penalty stacks are tuned down. Eg from 4 down to 2
