Karaz-A-Karak

Karaz-a-Karak, or the Everpeak, is the seat of High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer of the ancient dwarfen realm of Karaz Ankor. The mighty dwarfen city is situated in the World’s Edge Mountains along the once-prosperous trade route of the Silver Road. It is said that the great dwarfen Ancestors founded the city, and their spirit is strong within the walls of the mighty hold. In the Age of Reckoning, High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer marches out with his throng of Oathbearers to settle grudges and honor old alliances.

Dwarfen cities are divided into different levels called Deeps, and it is in the Middle Deeps of Karaz-a-Karak that the industrial heart of the city beats. Here a network of mines feed great forges that produce powerful weapons of war. The dwarfen resolve to hold back the tide of Destruction will forever burn as bright as the forges of the Middle Deeps of Karaz-a-Karak.

Karak Eight Peaks

Karak Eight Peaks was once a thriving dwarfen hold said to rival Karaz-a-Karak in size and wealth. However, the Time of Woes and following Goblin Wars greatly weakened the city until it too fell under the combined pressure of the skaven and greenskin hordes. In the Age of Reckoning, the Bloody Sun Boyz reign in the halls where once proud kings ruled. The fierce orc warboss Grumlok, aided by his cunning goblin Gazbag, has gathered many greenskin tribes into his WAAAGH, and now sets his eyes on Karaz-a-Karak.

Da Deeps, as the Middle Deeps of Karak Eight Peaks are known to the greenskin occupiers, is a place which bears the scars of the Time of Woes. When the earth broke open and the filth poured out to attack the dwarfen cities from within, this part of the mighty city witnessed the savagery of the skaven firsthand. In the Age of Reckoning, the Bloody Sun Boyz carry on the fight with the skaven in the never-ending battle for Karak Eight Peaks.,in

Return of Reckoning is proud to release the Dwarf City of Karaz-A-Karak and the Greenskin City of Karak Eight Peaks. Each city consists of the original "upper" levels we recovered from what was left over by Mythic Entertainement, which we extensively fixed, then filled with Creatures, Quests, Tome Unlocks and Lore. Each city also contains a "lower" level which was almost all created from scratch for this release by some of our talented developers.

We would like to thank the volunteers who put (tens of) thousands of hours into building these cities, including 3D Modelling, Concept Art, World Building, Tools Building and so much more. We would like to thank the wonderful people who worked at Mythic Entertainment for building this beautiful world and giving us the foundation of which to build these cities.

Thank you to all of the other Return of Reckoning team members who may not have contributed directly but however have been working on other elements of the game over the years. Thank you to all the players who make this all worth while.

We will add a FAQ to the second post soon.

Weekend Warfront: Assault on Black Crag

Image

Karak Drazh was once among the mightiest Dwarf strongholds of the World Edge Mountains, but was taken by the Greenskins during the Goblin Wars. Strategically placed at the western end of Death Pass, it guards the approach to Karak Eight Peaks. Today known as Black Crag, it is the most powerful Orc stronghold.

This weekend Assault on Black Crag will be the weekend warfront from 12:00 on Friday to 12:00 on Monday Altdorf time. You get +50% XP and Renown in the Black Crag Keep scenario, and extra rewards from completing the event tasks.

Stronghold Saga

- The Elite rewards can be mailed to other characters on your own account.

- The Elite rewards can be exchanged for unique rewards exclusive for the new city release, visit the throne rooms in Karaz-A-Karak and Karak Eight Peaks.

Combat and Careers

General Changes and Fixes

- Damage procs are now affected by outgoing damage stats. After close examination of many old videos from live, it has been concluded that this is how they worked on the live servers. It also simplifies it all to handle them in same way as regular damage in this regard.

- Blast pots have been disabled. There has been many reports that these cause frame rate drops on the clients, and the value they bring to gameplay isn't really worth that drawback. So for now they have been disabled.

Lairs

- The lair of Lady Grimgyre and the puzzle to access it are implemented

- Morra has abilities implemented and won't just auto attack

Chapter 22 Hard Public Quests

- Glittering Citadel: You can once again use the Phoenix Orbs during your fight against Caradryan

Fantastic work on the new cities!

Great addition of cities into the mix!

The roleplay event prior to the reveal was also fun. Hoping if there are more in the future a bit of additional padding time can be added for people to patch, as many guildies were 1+ hours into patching but still not into the game at that point.

Overall, really good patch and wonderful to see the RoR team bringing more of the original vision of WAR to life!

Thank you for new cities, they are very massive and spacious - took me long to run around. Hope you have ideas how you will feel them with quests, new dungeons and other stuff :-)
