I think blockbusters in recent years have trained us to expect an eye roll or a snide remark when Edgin began singing in the scene after Holga met with her ex, but to see her join in and allow the moment to be genuine was so refreshing. I think while this movie is very funny it’s never disrespectful to the characters or the world.

Good point. One of the charms of this movie did manifest in how the characters were presented. For a fantasy film the all did seem genuine.

That movie was - for me - the most pleasant surprise, especially considering the last dnd movie....

The characters were very lovable, hugh grant obviously had a blast playing the bad guy, the paladin was obviously hilarious but never in a bad way and what can i say, the chubby dragon made my day:) and all the humour never once jar jar bingsed the tension.
