RPGs are, in the end, always about advancing characters. One problem WAR always had, back from AoR days- lot of char advancement comes from equipment, and with WAR having a pretty small number of equipment slots, compared to many other RPGs out there, it limits the options for advancement- adding yet another armor set beyond sov for example means increasing the power gap.
The suggestion is to add trophies with stats- since those use different slots than rest of equipment, it will allow additional form of advancement, without having to introduce yet more powerful armor= higher power gap. Also, since the stats will be in addition to stats from standard equipment and not instead, even trophies with a relatively minor bonuses will be worth getting- once again, less power gap.

Trophies are meant and used to customize appearance. If there were some that had stats, we would need the option to transmog them, which can't be done right now. That on the other hand would make having multiple of the same trophies unnecessary, because you could just transmog the same one on 5 random others.

Or implement renown tactics, which other than a Wounds Tactic that you got at 80, they were not implemented on live either.
