I have a Mac M1. I have tried to download this game in every way possible for 2 days using crossover, and I just cant get it to work. From what I have read, the original post has a set of instructions that seems to no longer apply now? You would not know that unless you read the 7 pages of comments though.

Anyway I was wondering if someone had the latest way to get this to work using crossover. I downloaded the game through the MAC os link on the website, unzipped it (left it all in the downloads folder), then used crossover to open the program, but the launcher never fully opens. The icon will bounce around but ultimately times out or does nothing. I have tried creating my own bottle using the exact method seen on the video instructions posted here in 2023, that doesn't work. I tried NOT installing net 4 as instructed by the latest 2024 posts seem to suggest, (only putting directx in the bottle instead of net4), can't get it to work either.

Is there something I am missing here? I feel like it may be an easy fix, and I am the problem because I am just not understanding, or getting confused by all the changes that happened since the original post was made to now in 2025 where things are quite different.

Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
Hi there, instructions are valid, even if the post got long I keep on updating the original post. Please advice the version of Crossover you are using and replace your rorlauncher.exe with this one http://launcher.returnofreckoning.com/RoRLauncher.exe inside your bottle install folder.

Net4 is no longer needed with latests version of Crossover but it started throwing some errors due to an update in wine 9, if you can get the version 25.0.0.38553 from https://www.codeweavers.com/preview, this uses wine 10rc.

Hi,
I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me out, and responding so fast. I did not mean to come across as rude in my first post, It just can be frustrating for a MAC user sometimes.

Currently I am using what I believe is the newest version of Crossover preview (Crossover-preview-20241220). It says on their website that is the newest version. I am pretty sure it states that it is running wine 10rc.

I downloaded the launcher from the file you gave me ( http://launcher.returnofreckoning.com/RoRLauncher.exe ), and try to open it in the new bottle (Windows 10 64-bit), but it is still not working, although this is the farthest I have ever gotten.

Now the issue is that I can get to the login screen but the connect button stays permanently grayed out (the forum button works fine though, and sends me to the forum page).
I keep getting an error window every time I get to this login screen.

A separate window appears above the login screen that says "important Message! - One or more core files are missing. Please Reinstall.
If I close out the error message and the launcher, the download aborts and I have to start all over again.

I have tried over 10 times to get this to open in crossover, hopefully it is just something small I am forgetting to do.
I really appreciate all of the help, and thank you for your time.

Thats the latest version, you are good with that.

With just the launcher you won't do anything, that launcher is meant to replace the launcher you installed with the installer you downloaded before, so follow the install process, open the C:drive of your bottle, browse to your RoR folder and replace the launcher installed with the one provided in the link, install directx and you should be good to go.

I understand your frustration, Mac gaming is tough but you will eventually get there.

If you want you can try downloading the whole folder from this link (my own drive) https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/077K ... jgxByg#RoR
create the bottle, copy / paste this folder, install directx, right click on the bottle select run command, browse, search the rorlauncher.exe. click save as launcher and then run.

Hey all,

I tried just about every combination of every install method on here and each time I get to the end and go to launch my RoRlauncher, i see the application appear in my bar and then no windows pop up, waited for about 10 minutes each time. I triple checked all settings and files.

Specs are 2023 macbook pro M2 chip osVentura 13.6.3
Crossover v24.0.5

Hoping to get some rvr in my spare time, I was gutted when the servers got shut down originally!
