I would argue that their strength is gear based rather than being class based. So they aren't really in the spot they should be in however buffing them at this point would probably be a bad idea.

Are your statements in regards to the idea of a defensive pounce being a buff that would result in unbalancing SM or the idea of moving CA to RF position as an unnecessary buff?

Why do you say it is gear based? In fact i would counter that it is becuase we dont have some of the bogus gear from live that made SM and BO inferior. Now i cannot speak for SM but i defiantly contend that BO is in a good place

They will never replace Chosen/Kotbs but they are definitely great second tanks

boog wrote:What power creep are you referring to? That moving CA to the place of RF would cause an imbalance in power between SM and BO? Or the ideas you mentioned earlier about revisions to RF? Either way RFs position would be relocated to CAs current position correct? Assuming CA is not the topic of what could possible knock SM and BO out of balance (which I do not want to see occur either) wouldn't moving its location right now or the near future not negatively affect anything?

I ask the questions not taking a stance against you but out of not know myself. I trust your opinion on the matter over mine or anyone else given the experience you have in dealing with these circumstances.
I'm referring to power creep caused by vertical progression within WAR.

Unless the knockdown changes made on RoR were a serious buff to SM/BO which catapulted them above IB/BG, their future reduced viability can now be blamed at least partially on violations of game state caused by cramming more and more stats and elements into the game. What is to be done about that must be decided before performing any more fine balance changes.

This game has always had power creep. Even if it's just Warlord vs. Sovereign gear or the few mastery points you have at RR70 as opposed to RR39, any sort of barrier toward an even playing field fits the bill.

They are great for the wrong reason. They are great because they do so much damage from a build that is still reasonably tough the SM is especially guilty of this as the second you give them any focus in a 6 man they just channel wall of darting steel.

A tank should be chosen on its buffs, debuff type, utility and cc not because its a 3rd dps that can guard. Balancing a class with gear is the wrong approach in my opinion and that is all the merc set has done.
