If you want tip TANK, take a shield. If you want to sacrifice half your defences for a tiny increase in damage, take 2H.

I would suggest 1 hander and shield for starters (learn to assist, switch guard and apply snares, blurring shock, whispering winds and crashing wave properly). After that you can go 2 hander if you wish, though I personally think SnB SM is a pretty good combo of doing damage and still being tanky.

And don't listen to dirty purists. It's perfectly alright to go 2H and offtank.

There is too many 2H tank on destro side. I'm not saying that 2H tanks are not viable, I have a 2H SM.
But clearly destro lacks SnB tanks.
