I installed directx like it suggested, and my drivers are up to date. So I have no idea either.

Get .NET framewwork, also see if it may be stopped by your antivirus.
I am running it on W 8.1 and had to check those before.

You sir are a genious. I appreciate all the help given to me and with no attitude due to these posts being an in an abundance when most were solved. I commend the service you bring to us as mere players to your generously revived game.

that black box just remains black. Did you look for malware on your pc. Had that problem once. And it looked the same as what you describe.
