Return of Reckoning

I don't have an error log, just a lack of server and/or character choices.

I downloaded as a torrent so there are no parts or extractions. This was done on the Chrome browser.

If I stay on the launch screen long enough I get a windows pop up critical error stating:
Authentication Failed -- Application will now terminate.

No other details.

Re-extracting, even re-downloading (as mentioned in the introductory post) has been tried. Have been using Mozilla Firefox, so the browser should not be a problem. Seems like we all got the same issue here. What shows is basically the Main Menu screen, only the Server List is missing and therefore we can't create a character nor join the server.

The server was down pretty often in the last days it seems, maybe you always tried to connect in these times ? just a wild guess

That's not the case I'm afraid. I myself have been online at the times we've been trying to connect. This problem regards my friend's computer you see, not mine. :/

Make sure his drivers, Directx, and .net packages are up to date.

How to manually rebuild performance counters:

1. Go to start, and type in the search box "cmd". Right click cmd, and run as administrator.

2. Type in the command console, "cd c:\windows\system32", and hit enter.

3. Then type "lodctr /r", and hit enter.

3. It will take a few seconds to perform the command.

Performance counters should be rebuilt. Try loading the game, again.

Rebuilding Performance counter didn't make it work for me, It couldn't somehow be a connection problem maybe?
