If we don't give the money to devs but to the hosting company is that still a no no? IDK really... seems that if EA/GW wanted it down whether it made money or not wouldn't really matter.

This is the only WAR server out there I think & with people posting the info all over the place even a FB acc and Twitter .... not exactly hiding it.

Guess what, that advertisment is making way more money than on some random worthless blog - there are actually alot of ppl coming to this site.

Basically - the "we're non-profit not taking a dime" argument is already out the window. If EA/GW wants to shut this down, the ammunition is already on that front site - war is being used to bring ppl to the site - and the site has an advertisement on it.

I just don't get the hypocrisy here.
i don't think getting money for ads on a website from some company is the same as getting money from players for a game
Then lets give money to the SITE then :)

lets start a "new car fund" or something that we can all give money to and if the devs decide to be corrupt and use that money for something else... ;)

i'm certain they would spend all the money for cookies and ice cream! :P

would love a way to support the dev-team but i don't see a good way to do that other than helping them work on this project
but i don't wanna ruin RoR with my shitty coding skills!

Pretty much we just need to drop it unless a a dev says they we are doing some sort of fundraiser.... they are the ones that decide what we can and can't do. If there ever is something like that I'm sure the whole community will support it. But until then we all do our best and be patient

I also wondered the same thing. I simply gave up trying. If they don't want it, they don't want it. I'm more than happy to keep my own money.

Also, i imagine their costs are likely split up between a few people and it's not much to maintain. Basically, it's their time they need, not financial resources.

I think the massive amount of entitlement some would get if they donated is another reason they dont take donations. Some people are entitled enough as it is imo.

The main reason is that emu are tolerated as far as you don't earn money thanks to them.

If we ask cash from players, we earn money (like official servers in fact), and most creative companies don't accept that, as you earn money on their work. And when they don't like things, they engage a lawyer... and make what needed to shut down projects like RoR.
