After some more time running around getting more conq/overlord, I am trying decide what jewellery to use with it for def tank. Winds Impervious are always good, yet genesis also has a lot of perks to it. I currently have 3/4 of the genesis jewels. The problem is that w/o the WI my resist seem really low, especially spirit resist now that I don't have the 320 resist bonus from anni. Is it generally worth it to take the avoidance and crit reduction from genesis or do I need to stick with WI to have good survive-ability? I can make +75 resist talis easily enough but that doesn't really seem as effective as stacking toughness. I have an lowbie alt with low apothecary that I guess I could lvl to start making resist potions but those are otherwise not on the AH or super expensive. Advice?

At very high level of toughness (800+, better 900+) and with 0% chance to crit you should not worry about resists cap. So avoidance (%block) is much better than resists means genesis for sure mate. Taking into account you should have at least Futile Strike II and some RR points/talis in Ini.
Tho people slot STR talis and keep toughness at around 600-700, dont know what they do with resists or do they feel squishy as im mostly running fully deftard or 2h.

Thanks for the advice. I currently have 800 toughness no problem. With genesis bonus and a few talis 900ish shouldn’t be too hard. At rr60 I will be able to do futile strikes II or III no problem. With the scen shield, genesis, and defender it should be 32%. Is that what is considered high avoidance?

There is no reason to chose between them. If you are running with a knight that has resist aura, use genesis. If you are not, use WI. If you face melee group more, use gen. If you fight magic dd group, use WI. An alternative is to run 3 gen (with cloak) and 2 WI (the ones with highest spirit and ele resist). This way you get a more rounded build.

Same for resist potions. If you run with a knight use armor. Without knight use resist pot, spirit mostly.

Don't ever rely on RP or AM resist buff. always get shattered or severed.

Why use armor pot if you got Guarded Attack? Doesn't Guarded Attack buff for more than armor pot?

EDIT: I'm stupid, forgot it can be severed.

Yeah also very good in open RvR vs SH. Cant GA if you out of range. Same if you pull+KD.

After avoidance formula change I swapped scen shield (39/39 one) for t4 influence one. Strongly advise to do that (if you haven't salvaged it yet) cause it is top before subj due to block rating and better stats overall

think we as IB community should start looking into making more tactics viable. anyone able to create a new thread/topic? (sorry for posting here, but i cannot create new topics)

I was thinking about that, but can't come up with proper idea, that won't be too much and would increase utility. Everyone one agree on VERY low tactic diversification.
Do you have any?
Talking about ideas I'd point out two things:
1. Few posts ago Darosh proposed a small change for AtD, which I support.
2. Volgo made nice proposal but im not sure I support, can be too much and should be discussed.

One obvious one would be making Rising Anger baseline IMO. I almost always end up taking it cuz its so useful to have a reliable method of building Grudge at the beginning of fights, or when you and your oathfriend arent taking damage. Would then mirror Black Guard mechanic, whom have Rising Anger effect baseline in addition to Oathfriend. Though, they may not build Hate on self hit.

Either way, IMO both mechanics should be mirrored
