First of all, I want to clarify that I've been a player since the very beginning, back when the only functional skill was the flee skill. I've never posted before because I'm not a big fan of forums in general, but today I want to share my opinion, as we're on the brink of the worst decision in the game's history (apart from keeping those cursed High Elves!!).I play multiple characters, but my main is a Slayer that I mostly use for solo or trio play. My goal was to get him to rr90, but today I know that he won't move beyond his current rank because you've finally managed to completely destroy MDPS with this arbitrary and senseless stat change.Right now, we encounter a lot of SWs, Archmages, Shamans, and Squigs because these classes can be played with one hand tied behind your back. But tomorrow, we'll be playing them too out of sheer frustration because we won't have any other choice if we want to keep some level of fun. Please reconsider this decision, as there are many other ways to make Initiative useful, and take into account the multitude of negative feedback on this issue.

Consider this; until earlier this year, you would at best get 7.5% parry from WS against a DPS with softcapped stats. The fact that WS gives as much parry as it does atm against all attackers is an abomination in itself. The change to avoidance that made WS so busted was a massive mistake to begin with.
According to this post regarding the previoud system, [url]
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23384[url]:
defense% = 100% x (defender's defensive stat + 26.25 x % modifiers) / (attacker's offensive stat + 2625)
So a 700 WS 2h mdps with 18% parry from renown points vs a 1050 STR mdps with 4% strikethrough from gear would have:
- If the enemy is 2h mdps:
- Current (WS) system: 14.5% parry
- If the enemy is dw mdps:
- Current (WS) system: 24.5% parry
If instead of 700 WS 2h mdps you were dual wield instead:
- If the enemy is 2h mdps:
- Current (WS) system: 24.5% parry
- If the enemy is dw mdps:
- Current (WS) system: 34.5% parry
So unless you are talking about different scenario (healer vs mdps) or the linked post is incorrect (or unless my math is off due to doing it kinda fast), the the old system had even more parry than the current one in mdps vs mdps scenarios.

I will say that I hope EoV gets its movecast component back in some form. At the moment AM as a healer is extremely stationary, and fits best into either kiting smallscale groups where it can use its singletarget healing, or into defensive warbands that try to funnel and prefer not to play offensively.
Smallscale aside, there are very few warbands that play defensively, as they cannot efficiently force fights onto enemies. It makes it a very niche healer to use in warbands, and given the lower range of EoV compared to conventional heals, it doesn't do much to change that at all.

Is there another link for the test server launcher? All I get is a 'Page not Found" message.

The actual formula simplified is defstat/offstat*7.5 at max level (the actual formula is more complex as it takes into account levels etc.) with a cap of 25% for this portion. Then you had hard avoidance vs strikethrough separately. There have been a few attempts at different ways, but what I typed there is what was the state for years, and afaik was the state after the reversion of the post you quoted. And yes, healers were disrupt machines at the time of that post

That post is from 2017, there were quite a lot of changes between it and the situation before the previous stats patch.
Before the previous stats patch, parry from ws and parry from renown/ armor mods/ abilities/ tactics were two separate statistics.
Parry from ws depended on opponent str, don't remember the exact formula but as someone with 700 ws vs attacker with 1 k str, you would get under 10% parry from ws, quote likely closer to 5%. Compared to current 700 ws= 21% parry.
So what you would actually get- 18% renown, say 10% from dw, total 28%. Then 2h opponent so 10% strikethrough, say another 4% strikethrough on armor, total 14%. Your actual parry 28-14= 14%, +whatever you got from ws, per above.
