Edit: Negate is probbaly a bad word. Assuming every point up to a certain amount is wasted because it gets ignored by str/int/ball, at which point do I get a defensive benefit form WP/WS/Init?
Basically you cant. Its supposed to work at a 1-1 ratio, so assuming it works right, and if 800 ws gives you say, 20% parry (making up numbers here), then 800 str gives you 20% strikethrough, and it all cancels out. And if they have softcapped str, you can never get any parry from ws, unless you go over the softcap ofc.

But, as others said, that str doesnt cancel out parry from renown/gear/ect. So theres no need to stack ws just to make sure your parry from renown/gear/ect isnt canceled out by str.

Not quite - You'll always have a small amount of evasion left over. You have to click though several of the posted links to get the equation, but once you do, it's:

<Attacker's Offensive Stat> / <Target's Defensive Stat> * 0.075 = True base parry%/dodge%/disrupt%

So if you have equal offensive/defensive stats, you still have a 7.5% evasion chance, and it adjusts from there. Block is the exception, and uses the formula I posted previously.

Did you not read my first post?
Genisaurus wrote:<shield block rating>/<offensive stat>*0.2 (capped at 50%)

So if your block rating is 284, and your opponent is a sorc with 850 Intelligence, your actual block% is:

(284 / 850) * 0.2 = ~6.7% + (bonuses from renown, gear, etc.)
Block rating absolutely works, it just doesn't work like you think it does. The reason why block seems higher is because the client always assumes your opponent's stats are equal to a PvE creature, and this messes with the tooltip calculations. I swear to god, if we ever get control over the client, we're going to fix those **** tooltips.
