Not opposed to melee SW in principle, if implemented as danil said. Regardless of whatever weird strawman bloodi was jacking off to in his posts, would rather see it implemented as interesting and unique melee spec with client control, rather than melee/ranged hybrid which is doomed to be either crap at both or OP.

that nice and all
Mdps is pretty much as well every case has 3-4 tactics that they have to hard commit to as well so thats nothing different
even is similar situational cases my choppa nor mara have been able to crit as high as 2K on targets, stating "extra requirements" of positional and VoN dosnt change that fact
the melee spec is very strong now because you still have access to SW's strong ranged skill giving the class multiple ranges of effectiveness, which is yes a very strong fact to consider
the better effectiveness Scout+skirmish just continues to point to the brain dead effectiveness and low skill floor of SH and SW

Is anyone actually running melee spec in groups right now? Been leveling BG so havent been on order. I saw Kajtarn doing it in some scs on my mara, he hit some 1.4k crits with Brutal Assault but he was also pretty squishy and it was pugs v. other pugs anyways.

Alright folks, remember this clearly.
This is a Strawman fallacy:

Here he is arguing against something no one ever proposed, that is a text book strawman fallacy, no one ever proposed such a thing.
Telling people that mdps specs should compete with mdps classes for mdps roles, removing their ability to do anything but fluff damage or debuffs at range, is however, not a strawman.
We are learning so much today, brings a tear to my eye.
Its just as Danii says, if he has to lose all ability to do damage from range, then so be it but he has to compete with mdps or its a waste of time.

Spoiler:
Seriously, if your ideas of balance are as basic as "he has a bow he cant do good melee damage then, thats unfair" we have an huge problem.
Seriously, if the devs take away ability to do ranged damage in assault stance, then sure give him a melee dps spec that competes with true melee dps. Having a class that can seamlessly transition between good ranged dps and good melee dps would be overpowered, and if you can't see that we have a huge problem.
I wonder if perhaps the point wasn't that I think Assault SW can do the above right now (I don't), but more that bloodi's a whiny little keyboard warrior who spends more time playing Forumhammer than he ever has playing the actual game?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Gonna be one of those days? Insults are not discussions. Keep them off the forums.

That's why I won't propose any new proposals for assault stance. I will just wait for client control and any possible surprises from devs (maybe they have some plans, maybe they don't).
Anyway I hope that it will happen as soon as possible.

We do have a couple things for melee SW after client control, gap closer in particular was one that I had tested a while ago. It is very neat.

I like Penril´s moderation of this thread. You gave me laugh attack, really
But to the point. I am amazed, when people roll a ranged class, they also want mdps not only melee competitive playstyle, but true melee tree to be on pair with slayer or WL. Halooooo? You rolled mainly ranged class! If any, SW should be mixed class, not melee killer like other MDPSers.
Its like Shamman call for competitive DPS spec to be on pair with sorc or magus. Its just nonsence.

The AA buff on assault is supposed to simulate dual wielding.
