can potentialy mess punting game and no guard is not the same as healing, also enemy can heal debuff anyone so ofc you can heal anyone the same way you can aoe dmg anyone. Cores meccanic in game are all fine, let em be, (maybe) juggernaut could use 1 sec immunity, thats it.

Do it, and give guard a 20 second CD depending if you're guarding a group member or not. Guard a group member and Zero CD. Guard someone outside of group and you're stuck on them for 20 seconds.

Test it with a weekend scenario, make it discordant only so we can have more of these entertaining threads. I think this conversation is one of the few worthwhile ones.

So everyone is shouting that proposed changes are imbalanced and too strong. Also they would mean two tanks do less than one tank currently for their own party. And using the very realistic scenario of delegating 4 tanks to guard 1 target to prove it. Oh humanity.
Then again, fitting mindset of someone incapable of figuring out how to actively protect an out of party ally. Oh humanity going twice.

I think most tanks should start with actually learning how to guard then move on from there

There s no counter to guard asides from punt on the tank. No way to dispel it or debuff it (and there 'd be no point on dispel cos it has no cd)
If only there were skills to reduce a tank's parry or block or even a skill that allows you to completely ignore defenses, that would be great. Coupled with a morale that debuffs armor, another skill that also debuffs armor and if all the DPs did AoE on the tank and its guard, we would not need to punt. That would be fantastic. Oh wait.

@OP : No, don't ask for change on guard mechanics (especially if you don't understand how it works, how to counter it and how do your job as a tank to help someone that is not in your part), it is good as it is.
