I think the coefficient is used because weapon dps and bonus damage (strength) are expressed as DPS, but abilities don't happen every second to second. A doombolt is a 3 second cast. So the modifier is pretty big. Coefficients are the one thing I get lost on, because each ability has been tweaked by Mythic for things like, if the ability also applies a debuff, or a snare..etc., it has a long cooldown, or it's usable at range etc. It's all valued differently.

Toughness always toughness wounds may let you live through a burst but yr still goin down next round but it all depends on the build never used wounds tailys or stacked wounds outside of a bw

Wounds handles the burst, toughness takes care of dieing a little at a time. If ya know how to get out of damage why worry about dieing slowly. Best defense is great situational awareness, pre kiteing. But i can only speak for healers and dps i never played a tank that has to stay in dmg. On live i would use very little defensive stats focused on heals or dmg relied on detuant, pre kite, or getting out of dmg. If i died more than i liked and i hate dieing i would add some more wounds to handle burst. Running around solo i would take wounds then armor. After lotd weapons and talis came out and then warpforged gear and crit rates were through the roof used the dmg on crit reduction.

Towards the end of live ya had so many oh **** buttons why waste rr or tali slots on D unless running solo. Big hot pot, token heal pot, absorb pot, ptra pot, lotd absorbs, the event item that stoped crit and armor penatration, the two lotd cloaks, if that could not buy enough time to get you out of dmg with rd, odjira or i was more partial to the 8% all the time run speed with boot tali and nurgling then you were in wrong place. And if ya were real chicken **** ya could drop sticky bombs and speed pot or stag out to get enough room to use caos mirror or war report lol but was not my style. Well the caos mirror and war report. I was not above sticky bombs speed pot or stag. As far as RoR goes i would still go for wounds above toughness.

If you are talking about now wounds is meh as a healer just go willpower and then wounds your heals + group will keep u up, rdps just go full glass cannon same as melee, tanks stack toughness before wounds as wounds come to them easy.
On live you dont stack armor at all as nearly everyclass had a armor debuff/_%armor tack, live if you wanted to live and i mean LIVE, you would go parry as a mdps and then full tb and def WF gear or w/e you had you dont need to go full "im a rock" spec as you would do no dmg (if you went full rock spec then ofc parry/toughness/TB/Cleansing Wind/Resolute Defenses). As a melee you cant pre kite unless you want to run away(ill pre kite a WH and then a rdps comes in for the gank....gg)
Best builds for solo was parry then TB then toughness coz as a marauder you could run around with that build with good dmg with 700-800 toughness and 30-40% parry, yes your crit was so bad (like 20%) but your WS was about 400ish (30% armor pen on AA's and moves that did not use gifts) choppas could not really do that WE's could but thats a dif story.

willpower is fine pre t4 later on toughness keeps you alive willpower isn't going to keep you up through cc bursts.

That's an interesting question
I have been maining Blorc since I started playing ROR long time ago
In my opinion, toughness is better for a tank. Why?
First of all, Tanks wear heavy armor, which already provides lots of armor
Coupled with a high value toughness, one can withstand more damage or at least
last long enough until healers arrive. With wounds you may have more HP, but that Hp also goes down faster.
Also, toughness help your guards a lot.

Shouldnt one normally be unable to mitigate Guard damage? Like its always 50% of the ally-received damage and is only block/parryable?

OOps, true. I wrote that by mistake lol

. Well, what I was wanting to say is that toughness help you mitigate DoTs
