Again, I never said that Magus was fine (nor did I say it is not). I'm simply pointing out that just because they have one skill that performs extremely well, it does not mean they are fulfilling their intended role or that they are viable in all situations (SCs RvR, etc). What if I don't like being a Rift bot? What if I want to specialize in mid tree?

Thankfully I think devs don't like one-trick ponies as well. Just look at WL pet and SH melee tree changes. Depending on how they implement those, we might just see less Pouncing WLs / heal debuff SHs in the future.

High RR is usually an indicator (in the hands of a good player) that someone has played class X for an extended period of time and, so, is likely to have a thorough understanding of said class. In the case of Svarz ( a very good player), one can safely infer that he is experienced with said class due to having devoted a lot of time to it.

I am leaving the judge role to devs, but feedback is important in any MMO is it not?

your magus name?Because i would take svarz advice over magus quick an fast as he has proven to me he is a competent player with whatever he put his paws on it. in the other hand u are on my chinesehero type of tanks list to be honest.

now answering the original poster .

Before T4 was launched i used to play a magus frequently, specialy for rvr . early tiers magus perform wells with dots mini nukes and such . specialy when no high Disrupt lvls floating as happen on t4.

i had to give up when t4 happened because the magus underperforming was total and miserable. i started to lvl up my sorc (it sits now at rr70).

The magus engi patch went in and as usual when u aply it to both class one wich never had the trouble one had well . as expected .

Magus had potential to burst down while bolt was 5 secs cd but afetr patch it begin to fail as burst class while engi benefeited so hard of the changes it moved to the 3 hardest ranged burst class in ror in my opinion.

So is tick to my sorc and well i dont regret it

The Magus is good for solo and in pug scs? Really? You might be inclined to agree with you if by solo you mean following the blob and tapping the enemy players.... otherwise no. It is not good for solo play/roaming. It takes way too much time to "prep" the Magus before it puts out decent damage...same for SCs, especially those that require you to move around a lot. The Cool down for redeploy/resummon is too long...and if you summon a new one, at max, you'll instantly lose 20% of your damage bonus.

Torque, thanks for that info - Can you name some of the abilities you're speaking about? I assume bolt of change, which its the one undefendable ability, and SVF with the swift flames 3 sec cooldown tactic. Something is off on SVF damage with surging power. It's not hitting over 1k like it use too with the 50% crit tactic. I also see flickering red fire now benefits from surging power, but its 2sec cast time with its travel time sucks. I still love magus class but the changes that came after the first class adjustment didn't really help alot. Damage is easily negated (resists, bubbles, absorps, cleanses), there are to many dependencies to get damage high, and cast times/setup to do maximum damage takes too long. I'd start with widening the pet buffs or let them move with the caster. I'd cut cast and dot tick times. I'd look at surging power and see if its applying. I'd check if fiery windows really does apply to bolt of change.

Surging Power is not bugged. It works (as intended) with both Flickering Red Fire and Surging Violet Fire. Are you sure you have it equipped?

The tactics he's referring to are Flame's Kiss + Fiery Winds. Flame's Kiss makes it so that Flickering Red Fire is also understandable but the tank will still mitigate 90% of the damage- he just won't be able to block/parry/disrupt it... It's also essential/useful for trolling Witch Hunters.

devs also have other sources to judge class,

This man speaks the truth. Engi is easier to play, has better tactics, better morales, and deals faster burst...all day long. Magus is a fun class but expect to spend 10 seconds setting up your kills and searching for the next squishy while a sorc should be able to do the same in 5.

Noz zo speak thatmagus pull seems a bit better than engi pull...especially if it comes to the height differences. But not all magi are that good at pulls, only very few.
