Azarael wrote:I'm satisfied that Eagle's Flight's duration should not change. My rationale for that:

- Changing the duration of E'F does not solve the principal issue cited with SM as a class (lack of group utility). It increases the SM's defenses, which are not lacking.

- Further change to SM does not appear necessary in the present state of RoR. If a competitive group is choosing to use SM, then clearly SM is viable in the current state of the game, on RoR. If this is because of a lack of good competition, then that's as may be, but the idea is that any such problems will be dealt with when they actually arise here, and not before.

I do not know if it is possible to do due to coding issues. But my suggestion is to improve Eagle's Flight like this.

Eagle's Flight - cost 35AP , requiers improved balance, 10 seconds cooldown , lvl 4 , path of Vaul, Enchantement. Guarded strike that deals xxx damage and improves your's defensive target chance to parry by 25% for 10 seconds. Improves your's chance to parry by 25% if you do not have defensive target. Person may only have 1 Eagle's Flight applied (no stacking).

So this will add group utility, prevent EF spamming, add some wise playing and improves the playstyle variety- should you keep EF ready to buff someone or use it on yourself and get cooldown.

Later changes could bring something like this.

Annuli memories (or Sulinash memories) - tactic. You chant few strophes from Tiraenor Windrunner's poetry and your groupmembers remeber of Eagles that soar above the Annulii Mountains .
Eagle's Flight now has 20 sec cooldown and improves your group chance to parry by 10% for 10 seconds.

So the whole group (including you) gets +10% parry chance. Maybe add something else, toughness for example.

What?

You always need +25% parry, it eats a ton of guard damage, thus you always need it up, at all times, even if you are not being hit your guard target is.

So based on that, having extra duration on EF will free you gcds, since you need EF up at all times whenever you are fighting.

So i dont see your argument at all.

but at the same time though you have tanks like kotbs and chosen who can have their buff up 100% of the time with out using it constantly

and EF goes a long way in mitigating guard dmg

Your argument is, that your tanks die to guard damage otherwise?

You shatter it and they have nothing for 10 sec. Tanks can do more than hitting the focus target.
When you think that a missing parry buff pressures a decent tank, then removing it from kotbs/chosen for 10 sec is a huge disadvantage for them, while a SM just reapplies it.

As far as I understood tesq, removing enchantments is not possible since there is always a shaman and sorc in your grp that are constantly reapplying 60m buffs. :P

@haters that didnt read the whole discussion:
I explained already why 5s is fine. Everything got deleted though.
The discussion seems to be over anyways since we have a statement by a dev. So dont expect more than trolling.

No, my argument was that having extra duration on EF gives you more group utility, because you dont need gcds to keep EF up, then you came to argue that you already have them because you dont need to keep EF up, i argumented that having EF up at all times soaks guard damage so there is no reason not to and from that somehow you got that my tanks die from guard damage.

So basically you have nothing to argue so you are trying the "oh so you are bad uh?" trick. Quite pathetic to be honest.

Great, you managed to sling so much **** that got everything deleted so now you can pretend that you did nothing but good around here.

Good to know for future balance issues, just **** all over the thread till everything gets deleted and then claim your arguments were already given and you dont need to do it anymore.

If that fails, i can always pretend that having 5 guys that accept me in their group is a valid reason to why my class needs nothing.

So people take notes.

I guess my RR 75 SM on live disqualifies me from the thread I created, seeing as you guys have deleted all my posts in a public forum.

I guess the fact that this guy "plays" Swordmaster is enough to elevate him to poster child status, though it is a shame that he can't separate his opinion from fact in his head.

It is plain obvious that no trick is needed.

The balancing factor of no-cd buffs/debuffs is their short duration.

Let's all remember that this describes 80% of what Nanji did in this thread.

And yes, guys who deleted all of our posts, this is the message you are sending.

1) That was directed at jojomen who was accusing Nanji of playing KotBS
2) I didn't delete anything - look back in the thread and you'll see that an accident from wargrimnir was responsible for that. Do I look like the kind of guy who deletes entire threads?
