Did you roam the T1 RVR lakes as a lvl 1 and expect to go toe-to-toe with any class? No. You probably joined a wb and stuck with them. Same in T4 as a lvl 16. Find a wb and just tag along. You'll have decent gear/skills soon enough.
SCs aren't bad in T2/T3. Slot some decent talis and get the best gear for your level.
