I don't consider myself as an old player but I've played the old version for a couple of years.
The issue we had recently has a lot of common points with orvr unbalance of factions in old T4 and this is quite normal as here we are on the "end game" waiting for T3 to be opened.
As mentioned in other posts the issue here is that some (methinks a lot of) players are xrealmers. I don't blame them, I also have some T1 order toons (especially dps) to learn how they kick my shamy ass ingame

After what I saw last night I made this conclusion, that is maybe not completely correct but at least is not far from what is really happening here.
- at start people like to roll destro toons (more RP, more fun and design to play).
- they some xrealmers go order. As the last two weeks order has the advantage in orvr they mostly play ordo and stay in the zerg.
- yesterday they read "new gear available with soldier medallion". So they log back their first (or main) destro toon.
- firstly the two teams are balanced. There is a big fight in Ostland. Destro wins, it could have been order, the situation would have been the same.
- so more and more people log their destro toon and begin zergfarming keeps. The only reason for this is that everyone wanted the new gear of course. I suppose in a matter of a few days after all destro toons are correctly equiped the xrealmers would take back their order toons and begin zergfarming keeps on the order side.
The issue here is the rvr unbalance. Sadly there are no good solutions for this and this needs (as Tesq mentionned) to be discussed between devs and players. Maybe GM or devs should open specific discussions threads in the forum so that players could do some proposals?
Here is my 2 cents to this issue :
* increase defense of keeps (add more health to champs or lord - give more xp renown to defending player). I think it's already done.
It's a good idea but will lead to players stacking in the keeps. So these keeps will be untakable.
Also increasing the lord health (at a ration depending of the unbalance for example) would lead to people leaving the zone empty with a OP and undestructable lord.
Maybe the health of the keep lord and xp should depend on the amount of the BOs captured?
For example if the defending faction and more than 50% of BOs on ALL ZONES (that is a good incentive to make people move and roam) they have X2 or X3 xp, renown and the lord is very powerfull. In the same spirit it forces the defenders to send external wb's to take bos instead of camping the keep.
* make medallions drop more from players :
it should make people fight more in the lake than on the keep.
It will encourage players to team up and go fight out of the zerg.
I know some of you will say "ok but we will be farmed by premades or ganking parties". Well in this case my answer is simple. If you go out alone or undefended in a rvr zone, away from friends, you deserve to die and you are free rr for the opposite faction. Period.
* lock xrealming.
Some games (WWII online for example) implemented a way to avoid xrealming by locking the side for 24 hours. If you log a destro you can't change side for 24 hours.
In theory that's an excellent idea (IMO) but here technically very difficult to implement, except if the devs have some magical recipe

Because this is a free game so people can open several accounts. Even blocking with ip is almost unnefficient as now everyone can use a free vpn software masking and changing the ip when connecting. But I'm not a specialist so maybe there is a solution.
* give some medallions to the loosing side when the zone is locked.
It's not a very good solution but at least some defending players should stay instead of changing side. The downside (as seen in the old game) will be warcamp afk camping wich really sucks. So if anyone has an idea???
* open two zones as mentionned in other posts.
is also an excellent idea. This will for ninja capture of bos and keeps. The cleaver parties will be rewarded.
I think a good mix of this shall lead to proper solution and increase the pleasure of the players.
Maybe working on making all BOS open on all zones while only one or two keeps can be captured. And the strenght of the door and lord depends on the number of BOS should be a nice solution but I understand difficult to devellop because of the BO status update.
