Damage from Guard

I was wondering if there is any major difference between damage taken from a guarded party member in old War and new RoR. For some reason, some stronger hits hurt me more when I guard squishy members, which makes me feel gutted. Is it correct that guarding tanks take 50% of damage mitigated by their guarded target and not by tanks themselves? Why not simply split incoming damage in half between a tank and guarded member?

Thank you.

because the tank has super defenses, the squishy does not. if you took 50% of the damage, and mitigated it yourself, then you would be taking literally half the damage people could do to you, ie next to nothing. If you are gaurding someone in glass cannon spec, then you should take a 50% of the damage THEY would of taken. or else there is no repercussion to any tank...

you always took half the dmg your guard member got. was never different on live either.

You can block and parry guard damage though.

Yes, equip a shield if you die too fast when guarding; it was the same on live when (extreme example) guarding slayers who didn't spec for TB IV: slayer gets 3K hits -> offtank dies in no time.
