I'll just put this here.
Anyone able to confirm if and how exactly the actual shield blockrate is factored into the overall block chance in RoR?
Right now it seems, even with pve mobs, that I'm only blockin for the 14 or 16% bonus chance.

(blockRating)/(Playerlevel*7.5+50)*20) = block %

That would put the overall block at around 35% then, including bonus. I guess there is no easy way to verify thru some kind of log or stat display.

That's what i thought. Which would render blockin almost useless compared to parry and disrupt.

i think that is just a visual display bug, the blockrate should still count server vise

so the deal is, the Block Rating is useless, but Block % as a stat itself is working correct?
I always thought something was off with my Tanker

Sullenmunk posted the formula the player sheet uses (when it works, which it currently doesn't). However, your actual block % that comes from block rating is lowered by your opponent's attack stat, as in this formula (courtesy of Bruglir):
<shield block rating>/<offensive stat>*0.2 (capped at 50%)
So if your block rating is 284, and your opponent is a sorc with 850 Intelligence, your actual block% is:
(284 / 850) * 0.2 = ~6.7% + (bonuses from renown, gear, etc.)
That seems low, but it's an additional check - you can still disrupt the spell if it gets through your block, and you can also block guard damage. When running calculations, always assume your opponent has softcap stats. Also note that your opponent's stat will only lower the block% that comes directly from your block rating. Bonus block% that comes from renown abilities, tactics, gear, etc. is only reduced by your opponent's gear/abilities/tactics that give block strikethrough.

not sure about the % of how the block happening but, the block rating work vs pve mob, it's easy to test just clear your renow and try to block.
I belive that live had a better corrective for defenses my 60% disrupt here seems to work way badder than on live.
defense dont work anyway so bad right now that they need a look imo.
