Faction balance and how to improve it.

Why is it so many people feel the need to be on the dominant side?
I see this behaviour time and time again in 2 faction games. It makes no sense.
Me when I see one faction has 45% and the other 55% I go straight for the lowest one.
Not because I'm Jesus, not because I'm a masochist but simply because I know RvR is more fun for all with even sides and also Q times are shorter for instanced PvP if you're on the low pop side.
Yet time and time again I see 2 faction games starting with even sides, then one side starts growing for whatever reason, then it starts snowballing and before you know it you have unplayable open world PvP, then people start leaving, then the game dies.
Already here in T1, RvR is practically pointless. At least when I'm playing there always seems to be 2 times more Destro than Order. Not fun. So I've given up on RvR until I reach T2. I really hope it's a little more balanced up there.
Sorry for the QQ but sometimes human nature really baffles me...
EDIT 20/03/16: Right...as much as I like to bash on xrealmers I'll admit it isn't very constructive. So instead why not make this thread about how we can improve faction balance, AAO or anything closely related ? That's more or less where the thread seemed to be going anyways. So let's have it..ideas, rants, QQs. Whatever, as long as it's about faction balance !

T1. Either new players or people rolling Alts. T1 is NOT a good representation of the game as a whole.
And why do people feel the need to complain all the time? "Unplayable" it is not. "Pointless" it is not. You simply don't get auto wins. Stop running around solo or in PUGs and you will see a major difference. If the EMP lake is fill with dessie, then form a group and go to elf. Or SC. Fight smart, and don't just try to charge superior numbers. And if your enemy DOES in fact have double your number then you get a really nice AAO to make up for it.
Lastly, you are discussing the ENTRY tier into this game. Realize that. Balance and teams-manship might not be the very best down there. Why? cause the majority of those in T1-2 are simply leveling alts. Accept that your character isn't playing how it will play in T3. you simply don't have the abilities yet.
And if you don't want to RvR in T1 then PvE grind your way out. But you wont like t2 or t3 anymore if T1 is seriously that big of an issue for you. If you can only stand even fights, then SC.

"rage" ? ok dude... but actually it isn't so much about T1, what's really worrying me is all these players trying to trade their order gold for destro gold. I haven't seen a single person trying to go the other way.

With regards to the 2 zergs; Currently RoR hugely rewards the bigger faction with progression. Also people don't like to die.
It would be awesome if RoR removed renown from BO's and keeps and just left gear progression for RvE. Renown was only gained through player kills in DAOC and that's considered one of the best RvR games ever. This was one of the countless criticisms of how Mythic went backwards and didn't use what they knew worked.

Yeah sounds like a good idea Mez. That way people would actually go looking for fights instead of prioritizing no contest BOs. It would also help keep the factions balanced naturally because if everyone is in the same zerg, they won't find any fights and therefore won't progress at all, so ppl will move to the less populated faction.

Thats what they did for keeps. No renown for an empty keep, you only get rewards if there are defenders.
And guess what, it didnt work. And it wont work if they do it for bos.
The game doesnt reward the bigger faction with progression, it rewards both, thanks to aao. But defenders play to fight bigger numbers, so getting rid of rewards so the bigger faction stops playing will just lead to everyone quitting.

So i've been in t2 for a couple days now...it's even worse. all three maps perma red.
gogo all reroll destro !
SC are still good fun though.
