Bunch of enthusiastic developers bought rights for this game from evil lying bastards "Aventurine ent." who closed the game in 2012, that existed since 2009. Funny thing there is 2 teams of developers who trying to bring back this unique game.

Sa-Weet. Darkfall was a lot of fun. I never got into too much, there were alot of PvP MMOs at that time. I don't have enough of a love for the game to pay for a beta however. But $100 for min 9 months worth of beta +90 days reg game time, and access to dev forums is a decent deal if you happen to love that particular game.
I'll be keeping an eye on it. Gl to them!
Edit: Don't want to sound like that is the only option.. You can pay like 11bucks a month for the beta, then 15 a month during regular time. But they are offering "founder" packs. Check out the link.

Yeah this game..I played a little, but not much. On paper it was probably the best MMO ever made. The monster AI was second to none. Goblins that would circle stafe me, attack the lowest level characters or healers first, or they would flee, only to come back a few minutes later in larger numbers..i mean, this game had it all.
But wasn't there a huge issue with AFK'ers and scripters just power leveling characters to max level? And farming? I think the First Person SHooter aspect too kinda sucked, trying to shoot fireballs and spells like an arrow. It's also super gank heavy, so only good if you play in a guild and have numbers. That's at least what I remember hearing about the game.

The problem is that you hearing this stuff. Real problem was AV managers who instead of improving game just closed it while making new incomplete version in alpha state (DF UW). Original dev team quited meanwhile and on UW other dev team quited too. It must be ghost house there at AV.

Skill system was grindy, but new version will improve the game so it will be fixed. No more afk scripting needed.

Right. I still have d.u.e.l.s on EU, but I doubt they would be ever used.

I played this game for a couple months, it was really good. The only thing that turned me off was how much you had to grind to be competitive. The crafting and combat system were extremely good tho.

Good game if you're into that sort of thing. For me it's too group/clan dependent. Not enough room for solo play. Which is why I like WAR so much actually. You can do group stuff without being in a guild group 24/7.
Also DF has FPS combat. Not my cup of tea.
