Make +160 stats tactics baseline.

I know that there will be no changes until the t4 is up and running for couple of months, but this is the idea that came to my mind from way back in the early days of Live-WAR.
Plain and simple.
Every class has that boring +160stat tactic - Brute Force, Endless Knowledge, Rugged and Discipline - based on the archetype. Why not make it baseline, always on and not to take one of crucial tactic slots? (not asking for racials or anything else)

Surely a lot of classes have very interesting, situational and flavourful tactics, that are often less useful and are not considered to be a safe pick as the +stats ones.
On the other hand there are some classes that have great tactics and will benefit from this change even more, since they don't take +160 stats ever.

I want to know your opinion on the matter ;)

come t4 we are not going to have TB this means we will have 45 free pts to spend compared to live

it will be very easy for people to reach the 1095 soft cap by endgame hence i dont belive people will be slotting the 160 stat tactic anyway

Wasn't the cap 1050? Or it did increase in the past 80+ days with hidden levels?
Come to think of it, the change could alter the way people put talismans in their gear.

Why not just get rid of stat caps? I don't need some communist government telling me how to build my character goddammit.

I would like to see something a little different.
  • These tactics use a different slot (ala renown tactics) These slots become available with level -1 or 2 max
Each class has access to these 'core tactics' but only ones that their class can actually use (to eliminate bloat)
i.e Casters can't have STR but has access to initiative, Intelligence, and toughness, Melee won't have access to BS, or Intelligence.
This helps fix classes that desperately need WS in tier 4 instead of the hamfisted attempt mythic did.

This creates choice, you need to decide which tactic is best for you, it will help define your role. These tactics are often an auto include. this way they are still an auto include but you still have to pick which way you are building your character.

People might see this and kneejerk, "you are giving toughness tactics to other classes than tanks it will make tanks useless", or "giving bruteforce to tanks it will make them too strong."

Remember that a lot of the stat increases aside from tactics comes from gear and RR. In order for a class to stack such stats to a cap they need to really push those stats, leaving other stats exposed. A MDPS might be able to have 500 str...it wont do much damage, while tanks that focus of offensive strengths will still be incredibly squishy.

As for tanks that would eschew rugged anyway to go LOLDeeps...we could use this as a replacement for Focused Offensive (a terrible tactic). With access to two tactic slots for this cause (or scales as you level) you can do things like hybrid healing, either way we can have these tactic slots be the backbone of your character, where the "actual" tactics are how you specialize.

You can also have some fun with for balance purposes. if you combine certain tactics this might give you "archetype" Set benefits, adding further benefits for staying within your archetype.

The only worrying one is healers being too tough...but honestly this increase would actually make stacking toughness feasible for healers, and in order to stack toughness your heals start to suffer. This creates another level of depth and complexity to building your character.

Love the idea, Gobtar - one separate slot for simple stat tactic(or something similar) to further define your spec/chosen role and specialize more in way you want to build the character.
As for regular tactics I've always envisioned them as to work with spec or base abilities, weapons or auras, resource or mechanics, not just +good stuff or +value.

Thanks, it's something I have been thinking about for a while. Even if it was partially implemented it would still help the game a lot more. I think that having additional choice makes it less of an unlock and more having a hand in your character's strengths. I would probably call these new tactics "Talents" representing that these are physical attributes your character has developed, rather than a skill set that has been 'trained'.

Could use the old renown tactic slot for racial tactics and the tome tactic slots for archetype tactics (like rugged or divine fury).

That could work but it would require the devs to totally rebalance racial tactics, using greenskins as a blueprint as to what they should be and function as.

Well racial tactics aren't that bad aside of the 25% chance to get 135hp when healed. Not a fan of +resist ones also.
