SM vs WL

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so here goes. I played during live (SnB IB) but I want to try something new in RoR, and the last week I've been struggling to decide between WL or SM. I've heard the pet is bugged for WL, so I've been a bit iffy, but on the flip side if I go SM I'd want to just 2h it, in which case I may as well just go WL. In any event, I have no guild or people to play with.
So I guess the question is which would be more useful in the long run for someone going it solo?

Solo in the lakes WL for sure. Solo queing scenarios? SM
2H "DPS" sword master is viable even in tryhard 6 man groups if not preferred. S/B I think was always a troll 1v1 build that only works if the other person is forced to fight you in a duel.

Going solo, WL all the way. Guardian Mastery Tree is a very good solo tree, giving WL access to a K/D. Coupled with high burst/mobility/survivability of the class, makes ganking a breeze. Morale 1 root, pounce gap closer, snare immunity, charge, decent armour rating, basically everything a solo class wants

.
SM isn't a great 1v1 class, I'm not saying it can't work, but rdps will just kite you to death, and good luck killing a healer on SM.

Duel and roaming in the lakes are a much different experience. Tanks have a serious mobility problem that makes fighting RDPS a nightmare, mix in the fact you can get jumped at any second and that fights in the lake are almost never exclusively 1v1 and the weaknesses start to show. Players will always run away from your into help, and as a tank there really isn't much you can do to stop them. And if there is a single healer with a brain somewhere you are not allowed to do anything solo.
Tanks where always really fun/good to duel with, but actual ganking I never liked.
I'd akin soloing on a tank in ORvR to invading people in dark souls right now, most of the time you are gonna get gangfucked and cheesed, but there are some good times mixed in too.

I'm not sure if you guys mean solo as in all by myself or as in "not in a premade." I mean the latter lol.If that doesn't change anything, I'll look more into WL.

Arguably, WL is easier if you play solo (e.g. ganking/roaming) or in PUGs (scenarios/WBs) due to the mobility of the WL. A tank is slow and cumbersome by nature, which makes escaping if you're in trouble with no proper support more difficult and definitely more risky.
If you do go SM, someone mentioned that SnB is more of a troll spec. It's not. In fact, in the current state of the game a SnB SM can dish out almost equal damage, yet provide a lot more utility. It has less burst damage, but pressure damage wise it is very viable.
If you go WL, the pet is buggy but it's not unusuable. It lags out, it has terrible pathing, it gets lost whilst zoning (occasionally between the T3 empire zones for example, or when you take a tunnel in T3 Dwarf), it's not always responsive with commands, etc. However, this doesn't happen all the time but more occasionally. In many ways it's more a liability than an asset, but given that all your CC is attached to it, there's no point going Loner spec.
I got a DPS AM, a WL and a SM and (all 35/40 with full Deva/Duellist) and out of all of those I love my WL the most and 95% of the time I'm solo roaming/ganking on him.
